Would Melee Combat Have Improved Battlefront? |
|
Melee combat is something which is becoming more popular in shooters. Being able to pull at knife and swing wildly if you are at too close a range to be able to shoot accurately has been a favoured choice by many players in several popular shooters. However, such tools were never introduced to Battlefront, something which I found severely lacking in a game entering a genre where that is quickly becoming normal.
I am sure that I am not the only person who got to close to a droid or something coming around the corner and suddenly found themselves hitting the dancing bastard as he stumbled from side to side like an angry drunk. I wish they had included at least some melee ability as a result. Something to push them away or hit them or do something which would have provided you with a short range, viable weapon beyond possibly your pistol -- which isn't much better for close in fighting than anything else you were likely carrying.

I like the kunckle-vibroblade in Republic Commando. If the developers were ever in incorporate a melee system, I think that would work the best for the Republic and maybe the Empire.

I don't know much about close combat Star Wars weapons other than the lightsaber. ;.;
What I do know is I would like this. I would NOT like something like CoD4 with the extremely cheap knifing system. "Oh look at me I can press a button and then I lunge forward with a knife which can just kill you with one swipe. Hahaha let's make it even easier and use a stun grenade" Suffice to say you can tell I hate that game. Something simple like being able to hit someone with the butt of your gun wouldn't go amiss. Like in the Medal of Honour games. -------------------

I'm sorry.
I prefer something along the lines of Counter Strike: Source personally. And to make this on topic, I could see a close combat weapon which is specific to each faction. -------------------

I was playing Mass Effect, and that game is the perfect example, in my opinion. If someone gets close in, you can smack them with the butt of your weapon to knock them back or possibly to the ground, allowing you more room to use your weapon.

Well since theres going to be close combat and long combat, they should let the snipers be able to kick people back

Not much use for snipers. All units should be able to push the enemy back, and not just the snipers in the game. I can't count how many times a computer player got in my face, and because of how the AI was made, he can aim and hit just fine while I can't even turn around to face him as he just continues to run into me.

Well i have no problem like that in PC since you can turn pretty easy. Its PS2 that i get that problem. Its really annoying to run into a droid and try to follow his movements while he pummels you with a shotgun.
A melee system would have been nice but ive never thought of it till now so i can imagine the game designers thought the same thing. ------------------- quote RoutronStar Wars BattleFront 2 Forum 1000th POST!
