cos even once i've destroyed all the enemy capital ship's critical systems, frigates and most of the fighters i still eventually lose for no apparent reason.
i also don't understand the scoring system thingies at the top of the screen.
help!

Umm you usually get 20 or so points for destroying a critical system ( like sensors, communications..etc..etc ) as well as the frigates... NO points for taking down shields though

I think you get 1 or 2 for destroying fighters and bombers.. ( would make sense due to the number of guys in them ) And more ( 5 ) for destroying transports...

Hope that helps... I once destroyed everything and lost due to not killing enough fighters .. now..I will almost exclusively dogfight the whole time..

To be honest destroying every critical item of the enemy and taking a few ships to finish up has always worked for me......I almost always win and when I don't win I know exactly why.

to win space battles you must attack the enemy ship by destroying all the critical systems and then kill troops and space craft

Just destroy critical systems/fighters until you have filled all of your point gauge (usually 180 points).

Fighters are 3 points, humans are one, and I think the critical systems are all different, though sheilds and auto turret defense doesnt give you any. You can destroy all the inside systems with a bomber on the outside if you have a while, thats a tip if they have heavy inner defense.

i jus jump in a TRI fighter and blow everything to (censord)!!!!

what i do is spawn next to the dropship get in wait for a full crew and then drop inside there ship then i get out and use several bombs on:
auto-defence mainframe (this isnt essential just makes it easier to bomb later)
shield (its faster destroying them from the inside)
engines (these are critical systems an easy 18 points)
life support (its in an awquard position on the capital ship and another easy 18 points)
then i hijack one of there bombers detroy there frigate/s (another 18 points per frigate) then destroy the rest of the critical systems with the bomber and by the time im detroyed close to all of them ive won and i very rarely lose space battles very rarely


p.s it doesnt matter what order you detroy there critical systems

Auto turrets when manned are 1 point as well...

I dont remember what its like on normal but I know on elite it seems to be the number of crewmen in the vehicle equals the number of points...

Bombers 2 Fighters 1 ..I know that I've seen differences on the transports ( Ive killed them and gotten 1 kill and other times gotten 4 )

But it could also be on Elite...I am scrambling around too damn much to pay attention to kills ;-)
