In Mario Kart 64 everytime you are in 1st place and your far away from them for some reason they appear close to you automatically!Anyone else?

Definitely. It's supposed to be there to provide a challenge but it just feels cheap how they just catch up regardless of how fast you get around the tracks.

It's called Rubber-Band AI. Instead of the computer racers using better strategies to catch up, the rules are bent so they can catch up (getting a lot of rare power ups, they go faster than they should be able too, etc.).

While true, there are better ways to manage it. The issue is the lack of consistancy. Instead of putting in a catch-up system Nintendo could have simply raised the racing ability of the computer karts in general and made their progress through the tracks more consistant regardless of whether they are ahead or behind you.
If a player is good enough to get around tracks really fast they should be rewarded with pulling out notable gaps over otherwise inferior competition. Otherwise it's like "race as fast as you want, we'll pass you anyway". ------------------- | |

anyone notice that in peach's castle sometimes the com skips half a lap for no reason. I think its probaly a glitch.

I,ve actually noticed that, if you're in 8th place, you will get alot of rare power ups.

To ruin it you do GP 2 player get a person 1st to run away then your next person stay 2nd holding them back.

That's also my biggest complain! I hate when that happens! Well, I guess it could make the game more challenging.

One time I was on Royal Raceway and I was in first and everyone was WAY BEHIND. Then Luigi suddenly moved way in front of me. I got so mad I quit and started the whole cup over.
