Not sure, but check to see that your mood is good and that you have a high aspiration level. It may also be that you are making the wrong kind of wishes.

I don't use this item very much, so I don't know a lot more.

How many times have you made a wish? If I recall correctly I have only made a wish one time in all the times that I have played Sims 2, which is going on 20 or so by now.

Wishes are granted once per day.
Aspiration must be gold or higher.

I have never paid much attention to this part of the game. How do you find out what colour your Aspiration level is? I don't exactly understand that part of your answer.

The wants you complete give you points.
[Fears subtract points.]
And these points are added up in a bar that displays a color.
Platinum, Gold, Green, Red.
[Highest to lowest.]
So when you go to use the lamp, make sure your aspiration level is as high as possible.

Thanks I am sure that I pretty much always have a high aspiration level as when I play.

This is because I always try to complete as many wants as I can for every Sim that I can control.

Mainly to unlock the various objects as soon as possible, but also because I enjoy trying to complete as many wants for each of the Sims as possible.

I just never noticed that the points are added up in a bar, I will have to look the next time I am playing.

You know the little gadget to the left of the screen, in the corner that displayes the Skills, Needs? The last one is the bar...If it's high, the color is white, that means your aspiration is high.

I looked to the left of the screen and I didn't find the bar, could you explain how to find it?

It might seem funny, but I don't know where the aspiration bar is or how to find it.

Dude, the bottom left! That green and blue thingy!

Go to the last column and it's right there, you know, where you can view your wants and fears without pausing the game?

I know how to view my wants and fears with out pausing the game, I do that all the time.

I will look for it some more soon.
