I got a new Elite today, and neither of my mics work on it for some reason.
They're fully plugged in, and I've looked through all the mute options and stuff, it still doesn't work.=/ | |

When i first got my headset (on a normal xbox) it wouldn't work untill i left my xbox for about 4 or 5 hours and i just worked but my internet connect was bad at that time , so it could be lag affect it if your in a game.
I would say just unplug it and back in again . If it don't work one problem my mate had was everyone could hear him but he couldn't hear no one and his mic volume wasn't turned up. -------------------  | |

It doesn't work in private chat on the dashboard either though, and I've checked it's not on mute and it's turned up and stuff.

New mic's have a tendency to not work at the start it happened to mine. Give it a few days.

I've tried it with a mid that worked with my old 360, and it didn't work. Could it be a controller problem?

Could also be a console problem The Shock.
If any of your friends have one near-by borrow theirs. My friends 360 made his voice blast out my speakers and everyone elses was still in the headset. ------------------- | |
