With all the rumors flying around about an 'Ultimate' XBOX 360 in the works, I thought it might be kinda fun to speculate what changes would be in an 'Ultimate' 360.

Microsoft has come out and flat out denied inclusion of an HD DVD drive included inside. Most rumors seem to bet that would the major change, along with a bigger hard drive, and built in hard drive.

I don't really think they would include an HD-DVD drive inside, especially after denying it, but they didn't deny of an 'Ultimate' 360 being in the works.


Bigger Hard Drive? Speculation thus far believes inclusion of a 320gb model, however maybe that's limiting as recently 500gb 2.5" drives are coming to market.

Motion controller? Microsoft is reportedly working on plans for one. Microsoft has contracted Gyration to develop such. Perhaps this 'Ultimate' 360 would come stock with controllers similar to a PS3 six axis, but offer more directional control then simple side 'tilting'.

Anyway, if there is an ultimate 360 in the works, what do you think it would include, or should include? Direct digital audio out? Built in Wi-Fi?

I think it's called the 720

I kinda have my doubts about that. People speculate that as a next gen follow up to the 360, but that's based on a successor naming convention to 360. I personally don't think they'll release any "720" in any future product names. When there is a follow up to the 360, I don't think they'd want to possibly imply it's limited to 720p resolution being one reason.

Yeah. Well without a given name for the successor console, references to 720 help to define that discussion refers to the console after '360'. This doesn't mean it will be called 720, but it doesn't mean it won't be or couldn't be either.

There definitely isn't gonna be another xbox out for about another 3 or so years.

If they release it, i will be temped to sell my 360 elite and purchase a PS3.

I do NOT want SIXAXIS. it has the potential to *bleep* up many games. if you want motion sensor control, do it properly and get a wii.

i think MS will concentrate on 360 since right now they're winning from a gaming perspective.

Yeah I'd do the same if I hated SIXAXIS since the PS3 CERTAINLY DOES NOT HAVE SIXAXIS CONTROLLERS.
