RRoD question

Well another 360 down. As great as I take care of all my things I'm now convinced that it is just a matter of time before every single 360 breaks. That is beside the point though. What I wanted to do is ask people who've sent their 360's in to M$ about the chances of getting back my actual 360 repaired, vs a random refurbished 360, vs a brand new one.

Please post about what happened in your experience and any good predictions on what I'll be getting back. Thank you for reading. ~ Q ~

I never bought any sort of warranty. Just working off of the extended RRoD thingy. In the support call they said "repair" and said they will refuse to tell me what was wrong with my 360 upon repair. Thing is though I remember reading somewhere that they'll just send you either brand new or refurbished.

Check the serial number when you get it back. If it's the same as your old one, they repaired it. If it's different, they replaced it.

Well thats what I was trying to determine, what is the difference between any rrod? Why/how can they fix some but not others?
