ok, so i've had a moderate NAT type for a long time, and it's really irritating. i've looked everywhere to see how i can get an open one, but i still don't know how to. anyone have any advice?

At least you don't have strict NAT like me.

You can try port forwarding, although it's quite complicated, and success isn't guaranteed.

I tried it (not 100% sure whether I did it correctly or not) and it stayed Strict, but I did seem to increase the amount of games I could get in. So yeah, it's worth a shot.

i got strict NAT, all i did was reset my router and hey presto I'm now cruising on an open NAT.

by reset do you just mean unplug it and then plug it back in?

I don't think so. There should be a reset button on your router. It'll be small and located at the back or bottom. Chances are, you'll have to push it down with a pin or something.

Actually i just turned it off then on again, every 6 months or so it might go back to strict but just unplug it then put it back in and everything is all good lol

I have my NAT on open but for some reason I am unable to find any friend's games on Ranked on Gears of War. When I tell them the match that I found, they find it perfectly but if they instruct me on a match to go to, I can never find it. I'm wondering if this is a router issue or what the deal is.

I once had a problem where I couldn't control it going between moderate, strict, and open. Every so often (maybe 20 minutes) it would change.
