Does anyone have any suggestions. It was playing fine last night, when I was playing Halo, but then I went downstairs for a minute and when I came back up the screen was flashing different colours. I thought it might have overheated or something, so I turned it off for the night, and when I turned it on this evening it was working fine. But after about 20 minutes play it when flashy for no reason. I have tried changing the TV, so its not that, and I have also tried re-starting and unplugging everything. So does anyone have any good suggestions short of sending it off to be fixed?

Tried a different AV cable?
If not it might have to get for repair because the socket could be screwed.

hapened to me, only the screen had snowish stuff on it floating around, got 'er all checked, out, got a new cable but it turns out that when my freaking dog tripped over the cables while chasing my cat, screwed up my favorite game too, Oblivion, let's just say mom had to lock the dog up for safety issues until i cooled down, so the morale of the story is to get a new 360, i got my new one for 100$ instead of the full price

Nine times out of Ten it's something small like a bad cable.

Since you checked the TV, it's obviously not that.

It probably is just a cable issue.

Get a new AV Cable, then if that doesn't work phone MS and get them to fix it. Is it still under shop warranty? If yes, return it and get a brand new console.

I have had a look and it mostly seems like the AV cable is going as i said before but it could be the socket on your Xbox (unlikely) but i have seen people say they had to send their xbox off because of this problem.

I have heard about that, I don't think its common because most people have the 3 red lights or faulty disc tray.

Thanks for all the replies everyone. I took your advice and tried out my mates AV cable - he got his Xbox for Christmas - and I still got no screen (after an hour of trying) so it must be the socket. I'm pretty pissed now though, because I have just rang Microsoft, and its out of warranty, so they refuse to fix it for free. Fair enough. I'm pissed though because
a) It was fixed and serviced before Christmas

b) I have to pay £60 to get it fixed and despite being cool with this I need a credit card. (I'm underage and parents are paranoid that they'll get swindled) So no dice there.

c) Microsft refuse to let me get it fixed any other way than through them.

So it seems I need to get a brand new Xbox.

Excatly the same problem mate, Ive just got a email saying mines being fixed on is on its way back. Microsoft also said to me that i should get it fixed with them. Its not to bad, they get somebody to pick it up then in about 5 days they send you a email saying theyve received and then 4 hours later they send another saying theyve fixed it and its being dispatched

Don't send it off, it would have cost me 120 bucks to do that, i got a new one from the dealer for $100
