Xbox Problems!!!

Ok I have 2 xbox 360's and their both down 1 with the odd Error 74 and the other with Red Ring of Death! I've done some research and both can be fixed with the over heating trick well I've tried that and for some reason it just isn't working is their something else I must do? I've removed all objects from the xbox except for the power and av cables. I would appreciate your help and options on this.

Red Ring Of Death.
...Death, full stop.

Have you still got warentee? Otherwise you'll have to get a new 360. Prefably an Elite, they don't have the RROD problem.

re: Xbox Problems!!!

Error code E-74 refers to the Av cables, they are either broken or the chip connecting them to the console is. I suggest you find a friend and use his AV cables in your Xbox, if it still doesn't work then its the chip and it has to be sent away for repairs, I had error code E-74 about a month and a half ago and got my xbox back in two weeks and not only did they fix the chip but they fixed the disc try and the fan.

In the magazine I read it said they used a different motherboard, etc etc, so you wouldn't encounter the Red Ring Of Death.

re: Xbox Problems!!!

Every 360 in the world has a possibility of hardware failure, as does any electronic item. The Elites and newer consoles with Falcon chips in them are just less likely to get it.

The red ring of death means that your system overheated and the soder on your processor has melted away... by the time you see the 3 rings of death it's too late.

NOTE: DO NOT USE COOLING UNITS! As stated, it's already too late, and attaching a cooling unit to your 360 will break the warranty seal, also, they help very little and also draw power from your system.

NOTE: If you have the 3-ring problem, you can contact Microsoft and they will send you a box, send your broken 360 back to them and you will get a new one in [about] 3 weeks free of charge.

That was down to your stupidity.

2 rings means your console is overheating and isnt bust. You should have let it cooled.

3 red rings means hardware failior mainly due to the solder on the motherboard melting. By using the towel trick it really overheats your console hopefully melting the solder back intoplace.

It doesent just fix everything like magic...

So your console is telling you that it was starting to overheat and you go and overheat it even more...

If your warrenty is up and you want to try some thing before spending the money for a new system, go back to youtube and search "xbox 360 penny fix".

Umm, the penny trick? I've never heard of this..only the towel trick. Can you briefly describe what it is, if you don't mind?

Stack three pennies and then wrap tape around them. Do that with like 4 sets of 3 pennies. Then you stick them on top of the RAM chips. It basically creates more room between the motherboard and the things on top of it, so it doesn't get as hot.

Why can't they just use metal solder?
