re: Xbox Problems!!!

actually the "X" clamp is for the space betweem the chips and the heat sink, while the penny trick is more of a "weight" on the chips providing a short term fix to RRod(bringing the chip into contact with its circuits)
I have the video on real player, but don't really know how to post it for your viewing......
of course this is just my interpritation of the two videos, i could be wrong. again though, it is easily found on youtube under the heading "x box 360 penny trick".you will know its the right one by the music.( I've gotta bad feeling about this)

sorry i can't be of more help or a little more certain!?

re: Xbox Problems!!!

When I first got red rings, there was only two. I restarted the system and it worked for a couple more months before I got the three red rings. Sadly Splinter Cell: Double Agent was stuck in there and I did't get it back.

A different problem for me though. Every time I set the time on my Xbox 360, once I turn it off it resets the time to 12:00pm. How can I fix this?

re: Xbox Problems!!!

Ok, so regarding the "replacing your Xbox 360 with a new one" issue. What about all the stuff you did on it. Do they repair your hard drive or are you out of luck?

That was down to your stupidity.

2 rings means your console is overheating and isnt bust. You should have let it cooled.

3 red rings means hardware failior mainly due to the solder on the motherboard melting. By using the towel trick it really overheats your console hopefully melting the solder back intoplace.

It doesent just fix everything like magic...

So your console is telling you that it was starting to overheat and you go and overheat it even more...

dude the towel trick makes it worse cuz once i only had two red rings so i freaked out and got on the internet and searched how to fix it and i saw it on youtube so i try i turn it off and on then guess what happened i got three red rings

Not completely true. I got it and didn't play it for like a month and i still had 2 rings when i started it back up.

Ok I have 2 xbox 360's and their both down 1 with the odd Error 74 and the other with Red Ring of Death! I've done some research and both can be fixed with the over heating trick well I've tried that and for some reason it just isn't working is their something else I must do? I've removed all objects from the xbox except for the power and av cables. I would appreciate your help and options on this.

who in there right mind would use the "towel trick". in what logical way could that possibly work. dont piss about with quick fixes, use the warranty or get it repaired or buy a new one, if you do manage to fix it it is only so long till it will brake again

Sometimes the towel trick is a permenant fix, but rarely, it's just for temporary usually. So it would be quite an idea to use the trick.
