Reciept Question

When I bought my console, I purchased the extended warranty, 2yr no worry warranty, at walmart. Obviously, I lost my receipt. The problem you see, is that I'm still under that warranty and I need the console repaired.

The Question is, how can I get them to honor the warranty?

I called MS with this info, and they told me that when said product is sold that the SN was scanned, and it is in thier system, with the warranty that I purchased electronicly attached to the SN. But Walmart keeps telling me that without a reciept they can't even scan the SN on my console. VERY irritating if you catch my drift. MS won't do anything about it either aside from telling the price for the repair.
If any one has any info or help to give it will be greatly appreciated.
Sorry for the rambling on, but thought the more info I put the greater chance for real help, and didn't want any one posting what I've already done as their advice or solution. THANX.

re: Reciept Question

Did you purchase the console with a card of any kind?

If so, you can probably pull up the purchase on your statement.

The warranty was through Walmart? Usually they use third parties for that stuff...

It's pretty messed up that they won't look you up in their system, though.

re: Reciept Question

Stores don't keep the serial numbers of the units they sell.
They just scan them in for inventory purposes.

Most stores will use your phone number to keep a ticket on file.

I don't think Wal-Mart does, though.

re: Reciept Question

What they do is match the SN with the one on the receipt to make sure you're actually bringing back the same box. They don't keep these things on record. They more or less push that responsibility on to the customer by giving them the receipt. Without it you're pretty much screwed.

I wonder what the price for air will be soon. I know one things for sure, when I do get it repaired I'm going to by MS's warranty every d*mn year. I'll have that thing covered till its obsolete..... That warranty is only for the RRoD issue. The 1 yr warranty that comes with the system covers every thing. That is also the warranty that you can renew just before the end of the last warranty.
I am presently discussing this issue with MS and Walmart people on a higher level, so I'm sure that this situation will be resolved in the very near future.
