Me and my friend have had trouble connecting for a few weeks now.I cant play or chat with him yet we can still send each other messages. I can still connect with everyone else on my friends list but there seems to be something between our connection. Has anyone had this problem or knows a fix? I really dont want to ring up microsoft to fix this.

Both of you probably have routers that aren't fully compatible with Xbox Live. The easiest solution is to simply buy a router that is fully compatible.

If your router is listed as compatible, or if you don't want to buy another router, then you may either need to open ports on your router or update the router's firmware.

1. Open 'Run' from the start menu.

2. Type in 'cmd'.

3. Type in 'ipconfig/all' in the new window.

4. Type in your default gateway you got from the last step into an internet browser.

5. If it asks you for a username/password, then it's probably 'admin' for the password and the username is blank. If it's not, look on a help page for your specific router brand.

6. Use the router's setting page to open up the following ports:

• UDP 88
• UDP 3074
• TCP 3074

These ports are required for your router to be fully compatible with Xbox Live

7. Also, try to find a way to update your router's firmware on the same page.

Thanks for the help but I dont think thats the problem. I forgot to mention that we were able to connect before this happened.
