A while back I was experiencing lag on xbox live and I called my ISP to see what was going on, and they said to do the maintenance thing on your xbox 360, and I did it and it somehow got rid of the lag. I then had to update every game I had over again.

I tried that again today and I'm having trouble connecting to Xbox Live. When I try the troubleshooter, I pass all my tests except the Xbox Live one, and whenever I try to start a game it says update the game now or be signed out of xbox live and it doesn't update, even after a good 20 minutes, it just stays there at 1%. Also whenever I go to the media center tab in the dashboard, the console completely freezes and I have to turn it off, so I did and when it came back on I had one red ring and there was an error message, so I turned it off and back on again in a few minutes and the message was gone, but I still couldn't update the my game, and Xbox Live was still messed up.

*bleep* you microsoft, you're console *bleep*ing blows. Fix it before you release it next time dumbshits.

Are you sure it is the 360 and not your ISP? my Internet connection has been complete crap for the better part of a week now. And it isn't just the 360. My PC connection is laggy. The PS3 is barely connecting at all. And the 360 while connecting to live can't download anything right now.

I'm about to get really pissed at Time Warner once again. Always something causing problems.

Edit: Ah, a moment of clarity. I had a thought after posting, I decided to unplug my router and modem. Then plugged the modem in and finally the router. My problem seems to be solved. Not sure why but I just had to clear the router. If nothing else it is worth a try.

No one said the 360 is a flawless machine. Sounds like your console is on death's door. I'd call MS to get it repaired.

Do what Koloth said if all else fails. If not, call Microsoft up for repairs for your 360 as your 360 is near death. It's better to get the box now and be ready to send it in the minute it dies instead of waiting to get the box.

When my internet used to play up, i would just unplug the router, then the modem, and wait for about 5 minutes then plug in the modem wait 2 or so minutes then plug in the router and it'd be all fine ... But i guess it was because i never switched any of the stuff off.. Like at all, now that i have a new computer and connection i switch it off at night, and there hasn't been any problems

Your problem has nothing to do with your console, so don't be an ignorant *bleep*. Your problem has something to do with your cheap-ass internet connection, or the cheap-ass router you use, if you use one.

Even if it is the best on the market it still needs to be reset once in a while. Like I said i was having almost exactly the same problem and I did a reset and it works perfectly now on all 3 of my systems.

If your lagging its your conection or your ethernet cable. Not your xbox, Your xbox doesnt dictate if it wants to have a good connection or nt
