I know you've guys seen a ton of these threads already, but I just got the RRoD (red lights on the first, third, and fourth quadrants) and I don't know where to start. I referred to the manual and I'm actually considering calling Microsoft first. Advice would be appreciated.

Just call Microsoft, they'll take your address and stuff and send you a box. You resend the box with the RRoD'd 360 in it and you'll get a new one in a few weeks.

This happened to me a few weeks ago, I left the console for two days and it's been working since. Still, I'd ring them up and let them repair it because the chances are it's going to happen again soon. I can't be bothered with the hassle of getting it repaired again, though, so I'll just wait for it to blow.

Oh, and one more thing. My Rock Band disc is currently inside the console. Should I try to get it out?

That would probably be a good idea.

When you call them, they should tell you to take out any games, your hard drive, and disconnect the AV and power cables.

All right thanks again. When I came downstairs, I saw my dad putting the Rock Band disc back in its case anyway.

When you send it into Microsoft once you get the RRoD, is there a possibility that it will happen again even after the repair it?

i think the chance of it happening is lessened but i am not sure...it happened to my brother on his and after a while it just stopped reading disc so as soon as it happens i would get it taken care of...

Actually, I find calling Microsoft to be a pain in the ass. I went through xbox.com when I got RRoD and I found the process to be quite simple and easy.

For the box? Oh, tough to say. Probably 4-5 days, and once I sent the system off to the repair center, it only took TWO weeks to arrive back at my door.

I was quite pleased.


If I were you, I'd probably call them.
