And MS has made no claims as to why it was made. The rumor going around is that it's being released because upcoming games will need to be installed (such as on the PS3) before they can be played. Hell, why in the hell did MS announce this machine, drop the price of the old pro, then leave the prices of the Arcade and the Elite the standard prices they already were? *bleep*ing MS...one of the main reasons I liked the 360 was because I didn't have to install my games and wait 5 minutes to play it.

Same here. I always thought not having to install was one of the 360's advantages over the PS3.

So, does this mean that rumored bundle of a 60 GB hard drive, 3 months of Live, a headset, and an Ethernet cable is true too ?

Nothing official on MS's website yet, so I have no idea if that's true as well. Probably will be announced soon.

What is the point? As if we need 60 GB. I still have 9.5 GB space left after over 30 games.

Installs if the installation rumour is true then just having 4 games with an installation will take up 15Gb dependant on the size installed.

Best start saving for the 120gb then.

Oh it gets worse than that. The initial instal on MGS4 is a mandatory 8 minutes. Then it is 2-3 minutes between every chapter. And it has to do the chapter by chapter install everytime. No matter how many times you play through the game. On the upside you get to watch Old Snake chain smoke for 3 minutes and read the warning messages. Some of which are actually kind of funny.

People seriously can't wait 10 minutes for a one-time install that means more seamless gameplay?

I love how it says "Always consider the health of those around you before smoking!" While you watch Snake puff 5 cigs in a 3 minute period.

But seriously, the installation isn't a big deal unless it does it like MGS4, then it becomes tedious and a real adrenaline killer.

A lot of people here are the kind of gamer who, when they get a new game (especially one that they were hyped up for) the first thing they want to do is put it in their console and play, not sit there and wait for it to download.

if future games have to be installed that will suck for people that only have the 20gb version or even the arcade version...i only brought mine last week!!!!!

i;ll have to take mine back and pretend that it is broken and exchange it when the 60gb one comes out in that case then...call it dishonest but it feels unfair to pay all that money for the 20gb version so recently then learn it will be replaced and include a model with 40gb more storage which may be REQUIRED if games are to be installed to make mine 'future proof'...feel like i have just been ripped off in a way...not happy

for all we know (i have no idea how much storage space installed games would take up, but it would surely build up alot over the years..) it may render older systems pretty useless if it takes up alot of space and im not buying another hard disk drive when i have only just brought the console...

Oh cmon dude. It's only 1 time and it won't take that long. Plus it should increase loading times besides. Not gonna kill ya.

I doubt the installs will be much more than 1 or 2 GB. And when you get done with one game you can delete the file to make room for other ones. PC players have had to deal with this even back in the days of 20 GB PC HDDs.
