I haven't got a RRoD yet, but my 360 broke the *bleep* out of GTAIV, and doesn't play Crackdown (probably because of the nature of open-world games being a large strain on the console). Can I still send it off and get it fixed? Well, I AM sending it off, but will MS do anything, I mean I still have the *bleep*ed disc tray as a contingency plan if they don't accept it for the non-RRoD'ness?

if youre in the 1 year warranty they will fix it or replace for free. if not, just force it to go RROD, then call MS.

You, could probably just claim it got RRoD. I doubt they check them all before they repair them.

1 year warranty? I thought it was 3, which by definition means I can't not be in it.
Anyway, I tried to force a RRoD with the towel trick (heard it kills them too), but it wouldn't die lol.

The Red Ring of Death has three years warranty, that's the only thing.

So sending it in would be pointless without a RRoD?

quote IncidniaNot if you've got the 1 year warranty still in place. Otherwise you'll be looking to pay a fee for repairs, I think it's £60. -------------------

So I sent it off a week ago, and it's coming back already. They haven't fixed it, have they?

I think the usual time it takes to fix them is about 4-8 weeks, so they haven't even looked at it yet, I don't think.

In the uk, unless it's RRoD, (mine only had 1RLoD) it'll cost you £60)

quote IncidniaIf it was something simple like replacing the disc drive then I believe it. If it's still broken when it comes back, call up MS and bitch them out.
