re: Feedback, Announcements & General Discussion #6

how big do you want?

quote GamePro
Our own Travis Moses tipped us off via Twitter a few hours ago and Microsoft's Major Nelson has delivered the first pics and full details--there will be a new Xbox 360 bundle coming out this year for $400 which includes a 250GB hard drive, two black wireless controllers, a copy of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, and a limited edition Modern Warfare 2-themed system!

Due out on the same day as Modern Warfare 2 (which also releases on the PS3 and PC), this bundles adds a batch of items worth roughly $175-200 in value for only $100 more than the Elite --we're ballparking, of course since the 250GB hard drive hasn't been priced yet. It should be noted, however, that the Amazon listing says the system is selling only with composite cables, so you're going to need HDMI or Microsoft's component cables to play the game in HD.

Should I buy an xbox360 still? I have been thinking of getting one for awhile, but my friend said that I am late on buying one and that in a year or two a new one is going to come out.

I'm pretty sure the 360 still has at least 3 years left in it. The only thing I've heard about the next Xbox is that Microsoft were looking for what kinds of processors would be on the market in 2012.

You could use Project Natal for further proof. They claim that Natal will be made compatible for the Xbox 360, even though it's not coming out until at least late 2010.

So yes, I think even at this point it's definitely worth buying. Prices just dropped not too long ago, so now is the perfect time, otherwise you'll be waiting another 6 months for another drop.

Now, what is a better buy? The Pro, or the Elite?

re: Feedback, Announcements & General Discussion #6

Depends on how much you can find a Pro version for. They don't make them anymore, so any store you find that has one is likely going to have an odd price for them. I think if you can find a 60GB Pro for less than an Elite, then that'll be perfect. The 120GB Elite is a bit excessive in my opinion. I still use 20GB and it works just fine, only problem being having to delete demos periodically in order to download new ones.

Definitely do not go with the Arcade model though. You'll want a hard drive to really experience the 360, which the Arcade model doesn't come with, and buying it separately will end up costing you much more.

re: Feedback, Announcements & General Discussion #6

I was thinking of buying a refurbished 360 at ebgames/gamestop (129-139 dollars) and buying the 60GB hard drive. That should be around 50 dollars correct?

Can I ask if we are allowed to discuss such topics as ixtreme, and abgx360 or is that against forum rules?

A Google search revealed them to be different types of hardware modifications for the 360.

Yes it is to do with Xbox 360 drive flashing, ixtreme is the firmware that is put on your drive so you can played backed up copies of your games, ABGX360 stealth patches your xbox 360 games so you don't get banned off xbox live.

Ok I won't, just to let you know that xbox flashing is legal, and game backups are legal providing you have bought a copy of the game; however as you can guess Microsoft don't like you doing it.

Anyway I understand where Neo stands on the subject so I won't post it. Thanks for answering my question .

re: Feedback, Announcements & General Discussion #6

flashing may be legal, but circumventing the built in security with ABGX360 to get you on Live without them knowing definitely is not.
