re: WHAT GAME SHOULD I BUY? The Deuce |

Going to Gamestop tonight to pick up my code for the L4D2 demo. I'll probably pick up a game while I'm there, though I can't decide which one. I'm leaning towards Smackdown! vs. Raw 2010, Magna Carta 2, and Star Ocean: The Last Hope.
I love RPGs, so I'm kind of looking to get a game from that genre, though I heard the new SVR game was good. Only problem with that is that I'm not really into wrestling at all anymore, and would probably rent it instead of wasting $60 on a game I may not like. quote DaeDrothManModern Warfare 2 first would probably be the obvious choice. That's one of the biggest games coming out this year, definitely going to give Uncharted 2 a run for GOTY. After that, since ODST and Forza are two completely different games, go for whichever genre you like more: FPS or racing. Forza definitely has a lot to do in it, and will probably get more for your money. My friend got ODST from GameFly, said it was kind of a disappointment... said it was a good game, just not a good game for $60. -------------------

With the story mode creator in Smackdown vs Raw you really can really get a lot of fun out of it. I had no intention of using it but just started to make a story just for the achievement and love the mode. Star Ocean is good, but the story just seemed to frustrate me. I wanted to like it but a lot of it makes no sense. There's a apoint when your characters are scared because an explosion is about to go off but they're all just talking about it and one of the characters has a long monologue. That and other similar things like that just made me either want to laugh or yell at the idiots who made this game. Not to mention all the immaturity of the characters. Good game, but extremely flawed story.
I haven't played Magna Carta but it got decent reviews. Again, Smackdown vs. Raw shold be your choice if you feel like being creative. ------------------- ![]()

Went with Star Ocean, also got Infinite Undiscovery. They didn't have MagnaCarta 2 or SVR2010. I'll probably just rent SVR2010 once I get GameFly renewed again.

Infinite Undiscovery is good. It's very Japanase in that it doesn't explain exactly what you always have to do. But I enjoyed it.

quote chaosI hope you didn't pay anything over 10 bucks for that pile of crap. Easily one of my worst game purchases (and I bought it at full price too). If you want a solid RPG, you oughta try finding Lost Odyssey, although I don't think it's readily available in most stores these days. ------------------- Who Cares really? re: WHAT GAME SHOULD I BUY? The Deuce |
quote trashunrealShinobi said it best. Get neither, and go for Rock Band. You can buy it for about $30-$40, and the songs are much better. Plus there's over 900 songs in the Rock Band Store that you can choose from to buy, all of which are 160 points ($2) or less. quote McClubbinI want Lost Odyssey. So far though, Infinite Undiscovery has been pretty enjoyable. Nothing spectacular like Tales of Vesperia or some other RPGs I've played, but it's good. I actually ended up getting it free because the guy said I had old games from over two years ago on reserve still. He canceled them and put it towards my purchase. Are you sure you don't mean The Last Remnant? That's another Square RPG that came out around the same time, and this game was absolutely horrible. Not only was the story and gameplay boring and annoying, but the game itself was just so laggy and kept freezing up during cutscenes, to the point where it actually became unplayable. Worst $20 I've ever spent. -------------------

Nope, I meant Infinite Undiscovery. I even wrote a review for it. I thought it was pretty decent too in the beginning, but it gets worse later on, especially once you hit the forest maze part. That area will have you pulling out your hair. The game's just got some crucial flaws which really ruin the experience, such as the lack of fast-traveling and the absolutely horrendous map which doesn't tell you anything about where you have to go.
Get Lost Odyssey from Amazon. That's one of the few places you can find it and it's still available for 30 bucks. Well worth the price. ------------------- Who Cares really? I mean, in the end it's all just politics. Friends helping friends, it's the same people who rise up again.

Yeah I can see where you're coming from about Infinite Undiscovery. But I just used a walkthrough online to help me. While I agree the game shouldn't be so frustrating that it came to that, but I did enjoy it once I knew exactly what I had to do.

Forza for sure. NFS cant compete with it. everyone is saying Forza 3 is the best racing game ever made thus far and its only competition will be GT5.

Dragon Age: Origins vs Halo 3 ODST.
