Strange, because I read an article in(it was either Gamepro or Xbox magazine) that said each system boasted the same 512 MB hardware so each system was on par with each other, the only thing that makes them different is where that hardware is put to, Nintendo hasn't really been about graphics, probably meaning why Resident Evil 4(which technically wasn't their's, but Capcom's) was the best looking GCN title.

I don't think 360 will die by next year, or die at all, but I do very strongly believe that anyone who thinks the 360 will overtake Sony as the leader in console gaming...needs their head examined. Sony have got by far the largest fanbase, and they're (in many peoples opinion) coming out with the best exclusives.

Not to mention the fact the PS3 technical specs give the POTENTIAL for it to be a more powerful machine than the 360.

Guess you better wait for your PS3 then.

Oh man, that same tired old argument could be said for GTA and other Playstation (II and III) exclusives. No offence Ceric, because you are a smart guy. The thing is though that Kameo is not going to make the 360 anymore than GTA IV will make the PS3. I do get what you are saying though, and if what you mean is that the 360 will have plenty of its own exclusives, just like the PS3 and Revolution will have, then I would have to agree with you. However, with all due respect to the game (and I bought it but haven't played it yet so I too hope that its awesome!) I doubt very much that Kameo is going to MAKE or break the platform.

I don't think the 360 will ever die and it will definetly be a closer race then the xbox and ps2 were. I personally think the Xbox is better just because of Live and all the PS2 has going for it these days are sequels when was the last good non-sequel game for the PS2?

You're right, but sequels can only be tolerated up to a point, the main reason that I've got an Xbox 360 instead of a PS3 is that if I got a PS3 I'd play GTA4, Gran Turismo 5, Tekken 6, MGS4 and so on, and I'm pretty damn bored of those series' already, I can never be bothered to play though twice or more like I used to. I know that PDZ is a sequel, but I've never played a Perfect Dark game before, or an Elder Scrolls game. I'll also be getting Saint's Row and Gears Of War, both original games, when they come out. Sequels are good, but if you don't provide quality original stuff, your fanbase gets bored and moves on. Sony may be getting original games soon, but what they have now hasn't really convinced me to stick with Sony. Of course, MS have to take notice of this, too. They might have more original games now, but how many more Halo games will we lap up before they have to start thinking about getting another flagship game?

Who the hell cares? 360s biggest titles seem to be sequels: Perfect Dark Zero and Halo 3 (although not yet released).

PS2 has God of War as well, which is the absolute pwnage of everything and anything. But who really cares if they're sequels? You would be complaining if they didn't have them. If one Metal Gear was made, people would be in uproar, as the story wasn't finished.

You see, unlike movies, games always have and always will need sequels. Because they can always be improved on. A next-gen console without sequels would be absurd - your favourite games from the previous gen have a chance to be improved on and have all the things added that could never have been until now, yet you would rather a new franchise come out, which is eventually going to have sequels anyway? Don't talk rubbish.

Not necessarily. I have yet to get tired of new GTA games because of the sheer quality and immense variety of the gameplay as well as the awesome character development and very interesting crossover points in all the games, linking them inexorably together. Not to mention that I can't wait to see what Rockstar comes up with for a new game engine on the PS3. I can't speak for Final Fantasy games because I am just not fond of RPG's, but to my way of thinking, if a game or series has a winning formula, why not make as many sequels as people are interested in? A great advantage to sequels that you didn't mention is the fact that the gamer is far more immersed into the world that the creators make, simply because it is an ongoing story that you sort of slip into like a comfortable shoe and experience the "ongoing adventures". I can think of many games like this, that I buy as soon as they come out. GTA is just one of them. The Ratchet & Clank series and the JAK series are other examples of characters, not just gameplay, that are so strong that you literally get sucked into their world and experience a great ongoing story, not just a game. To me, its like waiting for the next season of your favorite series on TV, even though to you, it is obviously just not something you are interested in because you see these sequels as boring or you would rather move on.

I never thought of it before, but this very thing may be one of the advangates that SONY has with the PS3 over the 360, gamer familiarity with an ongoing series and the feverish anticipation that gamers who love these particular games will have to see just what the heck these developers are going to be able to come up with for the next generation of consoles.

I am in no way bashing the 360, I LOVE mine! I also believe that the 360 has some distinct advantages over the PS3, but SONY is not without their attributes in this so called console war, I assure you. The aforementioned sequels and "gamer familiarity" in my opinion, is something that I believe SONY has a distinct edge in over Microsoft. Because, with the possible exception of the DOA and Halo games, I don't see any XBox or 360 sequels that bring back those memorable characters that gamers know and love, and suck us into their world once again. Sure PGR3 is a GREAT racing game and of course it is an awesome sequel, but it isn't a character or story driven game like GTA, Ratchet & Clank, JAK or so many other PS2 titles.

Again, this is NOT to say that the 360 doesn't have its own distinct advantages over the PS3, only that this particular arena, in my opinion at least, is one in which Microsoft is conspicuous in its lack.

If DoA is one of the 360's big series then I might sell mine on ebay right now...

Halo
DOA
Unreal Championship(?)
and Top Spin(?).
Xbox's Mario is the Master Chief.
Xbox's Metroid Prime/ Killzone is Halo.
Microsoft is making good buisness, if they keep it up and Halo 3 is a success, Microsoft might have just won it by then.
