I think that the Revolution is most likely to fail, for the simple reason that Nintendo don't have other market than gaming to fall back on. Anyhow...
The PS3 in my opinion will create a stronger presence than the 360, and be an overall better system. But because of the fact that there a few game developers that will make a game for a specific console, the PS3 and 360 will be at equal pegging, at least for a while.
In the end it really depends on what kind of games you prefer, the ones exclusive for the 360, or the games exclusive for the PS3. Just buy the one that best suits you, and for me, that is PS3.

Oh, the 360 is backwards compatable, but not for every Xbox game. Many games have been left of the backwards compatability list, due to coding issues or something.

My friend owns one, and I played his for probably 2 days straight, and its awesome. I was too late on the waiting list to get mine, so I have to wait until April. Damn shortages >.>

I played Kameo at Gamestop too. I didn't really like the game (not my style) but the graphics were awesome. Especially on that HDTV.

I think the Revo is a possible threat to both companies, simply because hardly any infomation has been released on its technical specifications, so it is a potentially threatening contender in the next-gen war.

I dont know about Josh, but my mind is made up.

Xbox 360 > Revolution > PS3

(Revo/PS3 in no particular order).

Xbox is the only company that has ever satisfied my gaming needs. I'm not a fanboy.

I'm saying if any system will fail it will be the Revo because it's developers have little other income other than gaming.

LIke said before yes the PS3 will have more power. Put it this way the game developers for the PS3 wont be able to or dont know how to use all of that power. However the xbox 360 game developers will be able to use all of the power for it. BUt basically i think it will be the same the ps2 ownwers will get a new one and the xbox owners a new one and those who loved halo might switch over and those who liked final fantasies will switch over. However i hear final fantasy will be coming to the xbox360 i could be wrong however.

I don't think it'll die but it certainly doesn't satisfy me.I'm more into the Revolution and the Playstation 3,Playstation 3 is best for having the best video game series and the Revolution for being the one to give me classic gaming and a new way of playing.The Xbox 360 gives neither of those,I don't care how good it's graphics are,it definately won't be better than Revolution and Playstation 3 with it's problems and games.

That's fairly close minded of you, Vegeta dude. Go ahead and give all 3 systems a try before you jump to conclusions. PS3 and Revolution aren't out yet, so nobody can really do anything but speculate about it.

Sony Computer Entertainment president Ken Kutaragi has revealed the true purpose of PlayStation 3, further explaining the functionality of the console and its place in home entertainment.

Speaking to Impress PC Watch, the SCE boss boldly stated that PS3 “is not a game machine”, going on to proclaim that Sony has “never once called it a game machine”.

So what is it then?

Well, according to Kutaragi, the machine is to be an “entertainment supercomputer” that, unlike other computers, which are invariably built primarily for other purposes, is designed to deliver the best all-round entertainment experience yet seen.

“PCs that are currently available have been created as work tools,” Kutaragi explains. “They’ve begun selling computers with media playback capabilities, such as the Media Center PC, but those just imitate the functions of home electronics. It’s not like those machines have been created solely for entertainment.

“On the other hand, PS3 has been created as a computer for entertainment. Entertainment refers to a lot of things, and not just to games. PS3 will be able to provide powerful functions for all forms of entertainment.”

Kutaragi also explains that PS3 is the product SCE has been building up to over the years with the release of its previous machines.

“We haven’t been creating our PlayStations for the sake of games,” he explains. “Our belief, and the motivation behind running our company, has been to [apply] the power of computers to entertainment and enjoyment.

“We equipped the original PlayStation with a 3D graphics chip, and we equipped PS2 with the Emotion Engine. PS3 isn’t designed to lean towards games. It’s not a computer for children. In the sense that our goal has been [to design] a computer that’s meant for entertainment, you could say that the original PlayStation and PlayStation 2 had existed as steps towards PlayStation 3.

“PS3 is the product we have been aiming for since the establishment of SCEI.”
