Expensive games industry |

Do you think its fair we should pay £40-£50 per game? That's a good dent in the wallet and trade in value doesn't give you a lot back either. I know what goes into making a great 360 game but isn't the budget comparable to a great game on old gen consoles? Will the prices ever come down?

Simple answer yes. Over time new games will drop slowly. I think Apmed 3 has all ready dropped in price. ------------------- ![]() ![]()

It's not the most fun thing in the world to shed £40-£50 on a single game, but like the Admeister said, they do go down in price if you're willing to wait, or possibly even fish out low prices of eBay (I paid £35 for Condemned two weeks after release).

I think its sort of weird that the games went up in price, I just dont understand why its only Xbox360 and PS3. Ghost Recon3 is out for Xbox 360 for $59.99USD but you can get the exact same game for PC for only $49.99. ------------------- ![]()

It could possibly be to help cover the losses selling consoles make ($126 on every 360). I'm sure when manufacturing costs come down, the prices of games will drop. -------------------

I'm guessing there are four people/companys that make money from the sale of games. So some the profit for microsoft for the sale of games would make up for the money lost producing the consoles. ------------------- ![]() ![]()

i think its a good deal...would you rather spend 60$ on a nice dinner for your family, or warm up some frozen burritos for your family while you play GRAW ------------------- hi![]()

Games are getting more and more expensive to make. In fact for the people who profit off games $60 is still beyond a rip off for them if you consider the effort into making and managing games now. They still may lower the price eventually on average. If you remember the N64 days. They have $60-$70 games which they pretty much slaughtered themselves. -------------------

I don't remember N64 games being overpriced. I had a few paper rounds earning me cash and still bought a lot of games. I'm thinking if 360 games are £10 less, then I would pick up a few more despite what the reviews say.

No new release for the N64 for over priced. I remember when wrestlemania 2000 first came out it was like £50, which is overpriced. ------------------- ![]() ![]()

quote Crispy_BaconFor the gamer, for the developer it's becoming a living hell! Indy developers can't keep a business running and it's almost impossible for new developers to get in the running without heavy support from outside sources. ------------------- I make games, check them out at http://www.unitedkingsstudios.com

That's not really not the point, for instance an 'indy' developer than used to charge $30 for their new release wouldn't be as making as much if they charged $50 or $60. Plus it's really up to them to earn their money, if they don't have a good game then no company will pick it up.

Well at least all Microsoft made games are $50. That's a fine price with me. I'm excited for all these games coming out like GRAW, Oblivion, and Battlefield 2 but unhappy about losing all that money. I know my brother told me that Sega games used to be $60. So I guess it hasn't changed much in the past, what like 13 years. ------------------- ![]()

quote DragoniteBallZThats true, video games now need a bigger budget than hollywood movies! Last I heard it cost more than 15 millions to make a game. -------------------
