re: HDTV Experts, help.

I own two HDTVs and have my 360 hooked up to this one...

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=7680048&type=product&productCategoryId=pcmcat31800050028&id=1134703181836

You have to consider what options you want in your HDTV when you are shopping. Some of them are monitors only, and do not have the HD tuner, speakers, etc. You want something that can dispay 780p minimum, which will give you the 1080i resolution with awesome quality. I would also recommend getting an HDTV that has the HDMI hookup if you plan on watching TV on it. Your 360 only requires a composite hookup, but HDMI is the best connection for HDTV and all the new DVD players and Blu-ray players will be HDMI.

As for your DVD question, it depends. Some DVDs still have the black lines on top, others do not. If the movie is true 16:9 ratio, then no... no black lines.

What ever you do don't buy an insignia, unless you plan on buying a 4 year service plan. but my recommendation for a tube HDTV is a sony wega tritron, and for a lcd i would go with the LG.

The Samsung is not to bad either, but if you are planning on buying it from best buy, go in and talk to someone there, the home theater department knows their stuff.

I work at Best buy so i see these a lot.

re: HDTV Experts, help.

get lcd first of all. get the lowest response time possible. and highest contrast ratio.

i just bought a 32" samsung with 8ms response rate (fastest atm) and a 3000:1 contrast ratio... it looks amazing.

microsoft does recommend the samsung models. Price wise for what your getting is great.

i paid a little less than the actual cost, but basically your lookin at between 1300-1500 (canadian) well worth it.

i bought the sphereX 5.1 surround with 10year warranty for 499...and im impressed with it, so if ur considering 5.1 surround go with that. 10 year warrantue is amazing.

if your playing racing games or anything fast paced play at 720p.

anything else play at 1080i.

u will see framerate issues play some fastpaced games at 1080i.
