Does anyone know the specific reason as of why games for 360 are $60(USD) instead of $50 or even $40? Or is the only reason that Microsoft knows they can charge that high of a price just because they know people are going to buy the games for those two prices? I mean I was looking around and noticed that games that are out on 360 are $60 but the same exact game for PC is $40. Has Microsoft given any 'reason' as to why the prices are like that? I'm just curious.

It only happens with third-party games. Why? I don't think nobody but Microsoft and those developers know for sure.

Yeah I know third party games are $60 and Microsoft games are $50. I just find it odd that they treat console gamers differently than PC gamers. Looking at PC games on EBGames shows that most PC games are either $40 or $50. I mean I know why PS3 games will be expensive and that is because of the Blu-Ray Discs.

Microsoft has to make up the money it's losing from selling the console at less than it's worth so it puts an extra bit of money on every game. The third party publishers charge a bit more than that as Microsoft makes them pay royalties for each game.

Lol yeah, what he said! Exactly. But you CAN get games cheaper if you know where to go. I know all the cheap shops where I live and can often find a good 360 game for £40 or a preowned one for just £20!

They cost $60 because, it costs more to make them. Third-party games for that matter, not MS games. But I still wonder....when stuff like Gears of War, or Halo 3 or Fable 2 come out, since they are all from MS, will they be $50 or $60?

Prolly $49.99. I wouldn't be surprised to see third-party prices drop to $49.99 around the end of the year due to the fact that Microsoft won't be struggling to cut even/turn profit from their software since production costs for each X360 unit is on the decrease.

top spin 2 was made by 2K Sports, like Oblivion. i dunno, maybe it is because lack of depth because it is a short game. but then again, all sports games should be that cheap then, so i dunno.

If you have a problem with the price of any game. Games in China come out brand new region coded to work on every X360 for less. I can't rememeber but, I think it was $40 with shipping and handling...
