I'm not going to close it LC, even though this is in totally the wrong forum, it can still generate some good discussion. So it's fine for now. ------------------- I saw Children Of Bodom, Machine Head and Slipknot

Ok, at the end of this trailer is doing exactly what the E3 2005 trailers were doing, a bunch of fake CGI supposedly aluding to the PS3s even though that's far far off what it can achieve anyway. Naturally there not going to tout weaknesses in there trailer but they also make it seem that the PS3 has more capability than anything visually which is also wrong because 360 can match it, actually, 360 beats it. As for physics, indeed PS3 will have some good physics, and I'm looking forward to it, but as for a tempest....not till 2016 mate. ------------------- I make games, check them out at http://www.unitedkingsstudios.com

wow...this thing looks good, I suppose its all a matter of opinion, I prefer sony products only because my first game console ever was the playstation, which is the only reason Im getting one of these, I already have a 360, mostly because of the killer apps like halo 3 fable 2 and gears of war. plus xbox live is fun ------------------- ![]() G-book

re: AMAZING! |
quote SomethingWackyIt's just a visual representation of the differences between next gen and previous gen etc. It's a great display of masterful advertisement. They're not trying to literally say that the PS3 can do that in a game, though it easily could, and so could the XBOX360 if they dedicated all the processing power to it. Hell, I've run what's called a tech demo (or technical demonstration) on my ATi X1800XT in which a tempest of sorts was used to display the power that my graphics card has and it's VERY detailed. ATi Tech Demo Pic 1 Pic 2 It looks UNBELIEVABLE in real time and proof that it's actually being rendered in real time is that you can fully manipulate the camera and look around the scene. So it's not all that far fetched at all. It's just a matter of how much time the developers want to put into creating something because that tech demo has a ton of different shaders just for the different interactions of water. Also i would imagine its down to cost aswell a game like Gears of War isn't perfect visually we know the Xbox 360 can deliver more in the future but that game has already cast a budget well over what most movie studios would be willing to spend... I think if the game has the right kind of budget and the developer doesn't mind spending ages creating the game, the Tempest in the videos could become a slight reality, might not be as good as they showed but its possible as the tech demo screens you showed, it shows images that are like an animated movie in its quality. -------------------

quote volacideBut Sony were showing wasn't a ton of different shaders, it was actually adapting water that had it's on viscosity, mass ect. And that is statiscally IMPOSSIBLE on a PS3 or 360. Of course you could go your way and pre-render it all in towers and then shove it into shaders but that's hardly what they were promoting. ------------------- I make games, check them out at http://www.unitedkingsstudios.com

Lol. I am intrested to see another developer announce they are using more than 9 GB of compressed data. As the two games that have come out and said it are Resistance and Lair. Both owned or published by Sony.

Yeah, I never once thought that it filling up 25gb was justified in Resistance or Lair. ------------------- I make games, check them out at http://www.unitedkingsstudios.com

quote SomethingWackyHaha, actually it is ENTIRELY possible in real time. The 360 could do it too. Besides, since when did you become such an expert?
