re: Console Overheating?????

With the later models it is much less of a problem. So long as your 360 isn't crowded and is fairly well vetilated at the back, it shouldn't be a problem what so ever.

At first, it might make a lot of noise (the fan), but don't worry as that's normal.

Wow. Is this going to be the norm. I mean for every single month that goes by, we always get one of these threads. Maybe Steel can put up a sticky about Over Heating issues?

I mean it was over a year ago when it was regualr, now you should not have any problem with your 360.

re: Console Overheating?????

Basically if your console has a fault with it, it will overheat anywhere, but as said above, this is a lot less frequent now. Just remember to not leave anything on top of your console, or covering the vents at the back. Keep it away from radiators and fires and preferably off the carpet.

Just common sense for anything electrical really. I play mine a lot and have left it on overnight for that damn GRAW achievement, and it's been fine.

re: Console Overheating?????

There's a few thinks you can do to prevent the console from overheating and these are all tested methods:

-Place rubber feet on all 4 sides, underneath your console to raise it up about 2-3cm so that it has enough room to properly ventilate because as it stands; there is not really enough room for it to do so.

-Buy an intercooler.

-Send your console in for repairs

-Put the console somewhere were there is plenty of open space, this helps dramatically.

I've raised my console & have an intercooler installed and everything works great. It's never overheated.

re: Console Overheating?????

The only time my console has ever overheated is when playing Burnout. I am convinced that game was crafted by the devil himself. You wouldn't find many people on Xbox Live who haven't had Burnout lock up their system. Other than that, I run hot, but never overheat.

Actually, they're saying now that the intercooler may actually be more likely to fry your 360.

Oh yeah, and I've never had burnout lock my console up. I've played it long enough to get 100% on single player, and it never froze or anything. It always ran perfectly, the only games I ever had freeze were PGR3 and Oblivion, both of which only froze once.

re: Console Overheating?????

I would never trust a third party cooling system anyway. Perhaps if I did have a problem with my console and MS actually made a cooler, I might change my mind but as it stands, I wouldn't use one of those.

I knew the intercooler would as soon as it was released but half the kids that bought it never believed me when i told them heh... Its common sense though if the Xbox 360 needed one they would have made the case bigger and just water-cooled the whole system, but instead they certify an intercooler that runs off of the consoles PSU that was only built for the parts within the console, meaning the parts have to work harder because they have less power going to them, and to top it off intercooler also narrows down the vents at the back meaning it not only disrupts the consoles designed airflow, it also stops the majority of the heat getting out in the first place.

Its a ticking time bomb and anyone that owns one is cutting their consoles life short, Microsoft were stupid to allow such a thing but its too late now, too many people think it is the best device in the world when it actually destroying their machine.

re: Console Overheating?????

I doubt the 360 creates enough heat to warrant water cooling, hell my PC "Dual core 2.66 "is running @ 3.6ghz and I still get a max of 40C under full load with a few decent Arctic cooling fans. Has any one got any internal pictures of a 360? Just curious.
