Reading through recent news, Microsoft announced there shall be certainly a "Gears of War Trilogy"

On several occasions, CliffyB has been asked about a follow-up to Gears of War but he has avoided confirming a sequel. Despite that, it seems that Microsoft is already counting on a Gears of War trilogy.

In an interview with GameDaily, Jeff Bell, the Corporate Vice President of Global Marketing for the Interactive Entertainment Business unit at Microsoft, has accidentally confirmed that the publisher plans a trilogy of games set in the Gears of War universe. Speaking on the “Mad World” commercial, Bell said:

There you have it, straight from the horse’s mouth. Like there would be any doubt that the fastest-selling Xbox game ever and most-played title on Xbox Live would not get a sequel...

Nice, thanks for the info. I just hope that they can keep up their hype if this happens. Like people didn't like Halo 2 as much as the first, let's hope that GoW doesn't follow that path. It'll be tough to top this game, that's for sure.

Yes, true. But Improvements can be made, and knowing the Dev. Team, they'll work hard to progress onto a more hardened story line, with a longer life span, since it is rather.. short.

All in all, i'll be happy ;]

And Trilogy stands for a serie of 3, so they might do a sequel and prequel.

Hopefully this is true, I think it is though. I think it would be pretty hard to not make another one after the success that this had.

The reason why they've waited and didn't want to confirm is because Gears is so hyped and advertised that had it become a mediocre game, the project would have been seen as a failure.
