Ok so I get Xbox Live for X-Mas. My 360 is now hooked up to the Internet but my sign up is going badly. When I try to register it says I need a Gamertag. Then it says it is already in use or something and I need to recover it. But then I need a Windows Live ID. So I went to the Xbox website and tried to register to the My Xbox thing and it says Gamertag so I fill in the name of my account. It says it already in use. So I go on my 360 and look at my profile and I can change the name. So now it can be totaly different. Now I'm confused what the difference is between your Gamertag and Profile Name becuase if you change your prfoile name wouldnt you need to change your tag.


PLEASE HELP.

And is a Windows Live ID required to set this thing up or no?

EDIT: Now no matter what I type as a Gamertag in the sign up it says it is used so I go to recover. Then It says it is not in use so I can Recover it using Windows Live ID or there is an option that says ok. The ok ddoes nothing but brgin me back to the previous screen. The Windows Live ID has me enter my email and password for it but I dont have one.

You can close this, I was just really frustrated at the time but I made it work.
