Which way is better to keep it cool or doesn't it matter?

Doesn't matter, depends on position and space, but horizontal is safer.

I thought so, so that is the way I put mine but even after getting it new 4 days ago that fan is really loud.

I have mine vertical. It reminds me of my thingo, and I think it looks more futuristic and powerful. It towers above everything else, instead of lying with them. I've also got mine protected because it's not in a walkway or anywhere that it is likely to be tipped over. Vertical!!! I also think having it vertical provides a bit more ventilation.

Vertical. I have a stand that has a fan under it and lights on the sides that hold my Xbox vertically.

Two of mine I played with it horizontal and they broke.
This one I put it vertical and it's fine so far. It keeps the system cooler.

I play with it vertical becuase my drive is *bleep*ed up and scratches disks anyway. I am still waiting for my 15 or about e-mail from microsoft about it

I have to agree to all the above because I believe having your system vertical is the normal way. I have seen it being displayed at EBGames/Gamestop vertically.

I had my launch console horizontal. I've had my replacement vertical for around 6 months or so.

Give it adequate ventilation and it'll be fine.

Mine gets fairly hot so I am thinking of putting it out the window and running the cables into the house:D

Another reason why I prefer Vertical is because that's how it is displayed in all of the pictures, and in shops and stuff. I've never seen a 360 in EB Games that wasn't vertical.
