CNET - X360 Controller = Best Ever

http://crave.cnet.co.uk/gamesgear/0,39029441,49290548-5,00.htm

quote Cnet
Did you expect the Wii? Sorry. It's a brilliant piece of innovation, that's not in question, but there simply aren't enough games to judge it against the best controllers ever. The Xbox 360 pad has proven itself over a longer time and on a wider selection of titles -- and it has its own claims to originality.

It's not terribly pretty -- it's beige, for a start -- but the Xbox 360's pad is a winner on several counts. For starters, it was the first wireless pad to come as standard. Its comfy, solid design offers dual analogue joysticks and two analogue trigger buttons underneath.

There's also a built-in jack for connecting a headset, so you can hear and talk to your n00b opponents. Can it be waved around like a magician's wand? Hell no, but this is about serious man-gaming -- there's no time for moving your arms when your thumbs are tapping this fast.

I really like the 360 controller but I didn't think it was to be considered the best ever. I always like PS2 controllers too. I bet the wireless part is the main reason for this being the best ever.

this is only true if you buy the Premium Xbox though, if you get a core, the controller is still corded...and also doesn't the comfort and "solid design" have to do with an opinion of the person? I personally hate the 360 controller, it just doesn't feel right in my hand personally...That whole little paragraph right there could be changed around and still make sense and people would sit there and be like "oh they are right"

for example

see, I only changed 3 parts in the entire thing...idk, I just don't see how their reasons prove that the controller really deserves #1

I agree, if nothing else because the wireless tech of the 360's controller is better and more accurate than any other gaming controller I've ever used.

The $400 "Pro" console is the standard package. The $300 "Core" is the basic package and the $480 "Elite" is the upgraded package.

So technically, the wireless controllers are standard.

It's their opinion. If you disagree, get over it. Life... will go on.

I loved the old controller. Lots of people hated on it I never understood why.

I would agree that the 360 controller is the best yet though.

re: CNET - X360 Controller = Best Ever

I love the way the 360 controller feels in my hands, the contours are perfect.
However the SIXAXIS/DualShock button design is second to none. The 4 face buttons on these controllers are flawless, they're responsive but don't feel cheap. Where as for me personally, the 360's buttons are too bulbous and don't feel as responsive for some reason. It doesn't inhibit my game playing in any way, but it does inhibit me from feeling entirely comfortable. This could simply be due to the fact that I've been using a DualShock controller for about 10 years though.
I really do like the contour design of the 360 controller though, most definitely.

Let's be honest though too, the DualShock controller did pave the way for all modern day standard controllers. The 360 made some changes but without the DualShock, who knows what the standard would be now.
No sweat off SONY for giving the SIXAXIS triggers either, Microsoft did something brilliant by adding triggers and SONY realized this and "copied" them in order to deliver a better game playing experience. Just look at where the black and white buttons are on the 360 controller now.

Anyone else find it a bit funny how they mention how the 360 controller was the first controller to come standard wireless, then go on to show the wired version of said controller?

Def not, a *bleep*ing skinny remote control is not the best controller ever.

re: CNET - X360 Controller = Best Ever

The only problem I have with the Dualshock controller is the fact that the two joysticks are close together... the Xbox/360's setup is much better when playing FPS's.

Aside from that, no surprise to see it come in second (after knowing which was first due to the article's title). It's a very simplistic controller that fits most games well.

I agree with Cdemon tbh, the placement of the analogue sticks on the 360 controller is better for me than the Dualshock controllers. Just feels more convenient for my left hand. It has a nicer shape to grip aswell.

I've never felt any more comfortable using either setup. They both feel fine for me.
