Suppose it's something you grow used to. Prior to using my 360, the Dual Shock controller felt fine, it's just now it feels slightly awkward to go back to using it after having adjusted to the 360 controller.

I loved the old controller. Lots of people hated on it I never understood why.
Well, I hated it because it was *bleep*ing huge.

Even still, I found it comfortable and the button layout worked great for me.

It doesn't compare to the 360's though.

re: CNET - X360 Controller = Best Ever

*Manually tests one controller one after the other*

OK, you can adapt to both pretty easily...You can use both sets of analog controls in a comfortable manner, though I think that the SIXAXIS one (Based on Dualshock), is better adapted to...I dunno, I guess, quickly altering the camera while moving (would be good for Armored Core, for example), wheras the 360's would indeed be better for stuff like FPS games, using left analog for moving around, and the right analog for aiming and such.

I like the the 360's triggers a bit more then the PS3's, but I don't like the bumpers as much as the PS3's L1 and R1...The XYBA buttons on the 360 indeed do stick up too much.

And personally, I prefer the weight of the 360's controller...Absent the rumble motors, the PS3's controller is kinda light.

The Guide button on the 360 is better then the PS3's HOME button...home button seems meh.

PS3's charger is cheaper in the long run. The 360 has the play and charge kit, its sold separately most of the time.

Roughly Equal IMO

Let's be honest though too, the DualShock controller did pave the way for all modern day standard controllers. The 360 made some changes but without the DualShock, who knows what the standard would be now.
No sweat off SONY for giving the SIXAXIS triggers either, Microsoft did something brilliant by adding triggers and SONY realized this and "copied" them in order to deliver a better game playing experience. Just look at where the black and white buttons are on the 360 controller now.

And Sony pretty much owes their controller to Nintendo. And they also owe the playstation design to Nintendo. They can thank Spiderman for their font too.

re: CNET - X360 Controller = Best Ever

I got around to playing on a PS3 for the first time the other day. The first thing I noticed about the controller was the weight of it. It feels REALLY light and cheap. I don't know if it's just me because I'm used to to the weight of the 360. I did have a PS2 and PS1 for ages. I don't know how the weight of their controllers compares to the PS3.

It's really light because the rumble has been taken out. I wouldn't judge the PS3 controller yet, especially without it's rumble which should be coming very soon.

Also btw, to that Spider-man font comment. Sony owns the rights to those too. Rendering your "hit" useless...

quote Microsoft PR
Microsoft Xbox 360
Did you expect the Wii? Sorry. It's a brilliant piece of innovation, that's not in question, but there simply aren't enough games to judge it against the best controllers ever. The Xbox 360 pad has proven itself over a longer time and on a wider selection of titles -- and it has its own claims to originality.

It's not terribly pretty -- it's beige, for a start -- but the Xbox 360's pad is a winner on several counts. For starters, it was the first wireless pad to come as standard. Its comfy, solid design offers dual analogue joysticks and two analogue trigger buttons underneath.

There's also a built-in jack for connecting a headset, so you can hear and talk to your n00b opponents. Can it be waved around like a magician's wand? Hell no, but this is about serious man-gaming -- there's no time for moving your arms when your thumbs are tapping this fast.
The preceding was research conducted exclusively in house at Microsoft. It is 100% objecive and we here at MS absolutely cross our fingers and swear on our mothers that it is all true.

So take that SONY!!!

lol

I agree with CNET. I think the 360 controller is the best controller I have ever used. I loved the original PS2 Dual Shock, and didn't like the original XBox controller, due to the placement of the black and white buttons in lieu of the extra shoulder buttons. However, the 360 controller is incredibly sturdy, solid and durable, much more so than the PS3 controller, and the 360 Guide button is larger than the PS button, which makes it more convenient. Overall, I think MS really set the bar pretty high with the controller.

Oh, as for the placement of the two analog sticks, I have yet to find either controller to be better in that regard. Once I have one of the controllers in my hands, my thumbs just find their way to the sticks pretty easily, making this attribute at least, equal in both controlers, for me anyway.

If only the black and white buttons were placed as RB and LB on the S-Controller, that would have been the best controller. S-Controller had the best grip.

But yeah X360's controller is the best. It's like an upgraded Dreamcast Controller.

Spider-Man = SONY = PS3

Oh shit what?

Everyone owes everything to a *bleep*ing white dot and two white bars.

Microsoft owes Math for "360."

I like where this battle is going.

So, all video game design credit goes to Pong? What a joke.

Nintendo gave us the modern controller, not Sony.

dpad - check. start button - check. select button - check. four diagonal buttons - check. shoulder buttons - check.

What did Sony bring to the table?

Don't say rumble or dual analogue because Sega and Nintendo have those credits.

I cannot disagree. The Xbox 360 controller being able to be used as a PC computer with the adaptor (sold separately).
