Well, I'm not sure what game to get next, and I was wondering what people thought of Gears of War. I've been looking for a good third person game.

I don't want to ask in the official forum because it'll probably be biased.

It is a very different game, much more strategic. I love the campaign mode, it never gets old. As for the multiplayer, if you play Halo 2 and like the frantic "hardcore" shooters then you may not like this gameplay style. I like both styles, GoW is much more strategic, you need to use cover alot. I would say that its definitely worth 60 bucks. I mean, whats more satisfying then chain-sawing through a 7 foot tall grotesque alien from the center of the earth?

It depends on whether you have Xbox Live or not. If you're only playing offline, you wont get too much out of the game. The single player is awesomely fun, but it is short lived. The multiplayer really does give the game long life though, I've been playing it online since december, and I'm still enjoying it.

I don't have Live and I love the game. It's about aliens that come up outta the ground and you gotta kill em. It's very strategic and realistic. You should get it now.

Online play is too hard for someone whos only beginging to play now. I'd say no the game, personally, it didn't tickle my fancy.

Gears of War's MP is repetitive as hell and the campaign is only good one time through.

Don't buy it. I regret having bought it. The single player is fun but is very short and has a terrible story to it. And after you beat it once it's boring going through it again. The online was decent at first but went downhill very fast and is one of the most over rated online games out at the moment. Just save your money and buy GTA 4 and Halo 3 in the fall. Also in the fall there will be Bioshock, Unreal Tournament 3, and Mercenaries 2. Oh yeah and incase you still didn't know Gears of War is a third person shooting game that plays like a first person shooter that has very broken online play that doesn't function properly at all. My life has been great ever since I traded it in.

Yeah if you're that worried just rent it. I've played through the campaign at least 8 times and have yet to get bored with it. It's every bit as good as Halo to me.

Wow, just for that you deserve the Purple Heart. And why does Cdemon say not to listen to me? Anyone with half a bran can see that the game runs like shit online and the single player is short and mediocre. Compare the online in Gears to any other good online games(for 360) such as Vegas or even Halo 2 for Xbox and see how much worse it lags and shit.
