The fourth annual Spacey Awards has yielded two awards for Stargate SG1...



Ben Browder, who places Lt. Colonel Cameron Mitchell on Stargate SG1, won the award for Favourite New TV character, presented to him, by non-other than Richard Dean Anderson, who played the lead of SG1, Jack O'Neill.

In an attempt to top last year's endless acceptance speech from his swimming pool, RDA submitted a small original film, "My Breakfast with Spacey," which aired in segments throughout the length of the broadcast. You can download the clip from here

Claudia Black, who played Vala Mal Duran on SG1, came second with 25% of the votes.



The second award, was for Favourite TV ensemble cast, which was once again awarded to the SG1 team, beating Battlestar Galactica by 7% of the votes. However, Battlestar Galactica came out top, winning this years Favourite TV Show, beating Stargate SG1 by 1%.

Well can't say that I'm surprised, although I wonder why Stargate Atlantis wasn't in any of the catorgories, hopefully they will be in it next year.

Being in Canada, I got to watch the whole thing when it first aired. Man, that thing with Richard Dean Anderson and the trophy was strange. Funny in a sense, but incredibly strange.

I'm a little disappointed it didn't do as well as last year, but it did have to go against a few tough mini-series on Space this year, and I expected Star Wars: The Revenge of the Sith to hit big time in these awards. Wait until next year - The Star Wars TV Show won't be coming out until 2008.
