This unrealistic combat for a realistic game!

Since when was call of duty supposed to be realistic? Yes its based on real battles based on real storys and such. But the game isn't meant to be realistic. Call of duty is more arcade-ish, if you want realistic play Brothers in arms.

I don't really know what defines realism in this kids book but I would say it does the best job aside from Brothers in arms.

This game does a fine enough job with just the cinematics and great references to past battles, not that just the whole game play is great but also living (well artificially) through most of the wars during WWII would be great enough on top of the great informative cinematics quality (provided by the Military Channel via on demand) I'd say this game does its best in more of a faster paced arcade action orientated FPS than a more slower tactical combat based FPS.

the realism is shown in the AI, espieacially on Hardened and veteran

Ive never had so many grenades thown at me in a game before, and the inclusion of actual smoke that does the purpose of smoke does add realism

as for the radar... it only shows germans right after they fire, mainly because the screen is not pheriperal, and not everyone has 5.1 surround (though i do recommend it because the best part about the game is the sound)

Yeah the soldiers are great when it comes to telling you when your being flanked and such. I love how they are very specific too, like "south west side" or "behind those boxes on the left" =D
Little things like that add to this game. A couple of the SP levels are non-linear too so I always look for new ways to flank the enemy or do my objectives in a different order.

how can you say battlefield 1942 is realistic. Im pretty sure a normal soldier cant command a tank, then jump in a plane, then jump in a boat. The less realistic the game is, the more fun you can have with it. I think call of duty is quite realistic, yet fun as hell. Plus the AI can realy get me bad sometimes, they outflank me so many times its impressive.

NO GAME OUT IS REALESTIC yet they have bugs and they each have stuff what is releastic plus if you wanted releastic you would go down with one shot from any gun and be on ground and paralized unable too fight if the bullet make contact with skin you would be in pain lots.

yey a water gun god if u where shot by a real gun u would go down. evn if u where shot in the very tip of ur toe you would go down.
