From what you've said you have only installed Steam not episode 1, put the disk back in and continue the installation.

so i put the disc in then wen it comes up whith the thing that says install half life 2 episode 1 i take the disc out and put it back in

Right lets do it the easy way, forgot about this. You have signed up for a Steam account I assume??

Open Steam, click "Games", then click "Activate a product on Steam" then "next" then "I agree" then enter the CD key of Episode 1, after this the latest version of the game will be downloaded to your pc.

1 year later lol. You don't need the CD to play games attached to your Steam account.

yer well i in stalled it on the computer then it had a virous so we had to take it to get rid of the virous then we got it back and it got it again and over and over and over again now its finaly gone
