iPod touch

Im seriously considering buying a iPod touch but before I get it I need some info and opinions on it.
1. It can give you updates for your NFL teams right? If so- how much to buy/memory to download?
2. Is it worth $230 for 8 Gigs? May be more though memory wise.
3. Does the screen scratch easily? If so, their are protectors for the screen right?
Thanks to who replies.

re: iPod touch

1) Yes, it depends if you Jailbreak your touch or not, and the amount of memory it takes is minimal ~800kb or so.
2) Remember its not the 8 gigs that costs $230, its the ability to be on top of technology and for owning a Apple product.
3)The screen is scratch-proof to typical, daily, normal scratches. Unless youre like one of those people who take knives and dig them into the screen, then its scratchproof.

re: iPod touch

Im only going to be using my finger and maybe a bit of my nail so that won't do damage right? And one more question, what about downloading games and music videos/movies...how much do those cost memory and money wise?
Thanks :3

re: iPod touch

Fingers are what the touch is made for. Nails shouldn't do any damage at all.

Games take up ~800kb-~1mb or so depending on where you get them and how large they actually are.
Jailbroken games are usually smaller I think but games from the App Store may be larger, I've yet to find out. The file sizes are listed with the app that youre downloading whether youre getting it from the App Store or from a jailbroken source.

Music normally takes up the 3-4 mb, depends on the song length and quality, videos/movies are the same deal, but normally they take anywhere from 600mb to 1GB. Again, it depends on the quality and length of the movie.
Prices are up to you if you choose to purchase them or if you download them off of a illegal source.

The cost of songs varies largely on where you buy them. From iTunes it's 99 cents per song. From other sources it can vary, I've bought songs before from Amazon (their songs are all DRM-free so they can be imported into iTunes and played on iPods), they usually charge 79-99 cents but I've found Amazon's full album prices usually are a little better than iTunes.
Music videos from the iTunes store are $1.49 each.
Movie prices depend largely on how long iTunes has had the film. Older movies are $9.99 each, new releases and major blockbusters are $14.99 each. You can rent most films for $2.99 or $3.99, you have 30 days to start watching and once you do you then have 24 hours to finish. The file size of each movie is listed in its page on the iTunes store, but a good estimate is that 1 GB is equal to about a 90-minute movie. The average 2-hour film is about 1.3 GB.
You can also get TV Shows from iTunes. The vast majority are $1.99 per episode (some more).

Do I need a plan for the itouch? Like, do I need to make a monthly payment for it at all?

For the Touch, no. The only thing you may need to pay for is an internet connection/router for WiFi access.

re: iPod touch

I was hoping to get the iPhone but it has a monthly plan and on a 14year olds budget, that can't happen. Alright. Thats all the info I should need to know.

re: iPod touch

I just got my ipod touch a few weeks ago, and I love it. The touch screen is great and extremely accurate to what I wanted to select even with my big fingers. I can touch a link thats just 5 pixels high and surrounded by other links, and it almost always goes to the one I selected.

I probably use it more for internet/apps then I do music.

So if you already have a router, then you won't need to pay anything extra? And what about getting the internet when you're not near your own router? Don't mind me, I'm a bit clueless when it comes to this type of stuff. I'm also interested in buying an iTouch though, so I may pop up once in a while seeing as I may get one for Christmas. ^^'

re: iPod touch

You shouldn't have to assuming you've already got the internet service you're paying for.

That's where the built-in Wi-Fi comes in. You should be able to anywhere you can find either an area with a signal or somewhere that offers Wi-Fi access, places like libraries, fast-food joints, coffee shops, etc. It's free in most, if not all, places where it's offered.
