I'll be right with you, that is if you are still stuck here?
I am on Tesshu's 3rd mission at the moment, and i'll soon be on mission 5! ------------------- "I would Happily accept the title of Fool, if it means that I can save even one life from your Blood-Drenched Dream." - Rikimaru, Tenchu: Birth of the Assassins | |

There are two ways of getting across the canyon. The one method is very risky. While the other, more safe approach is simple, but requires a stealth kill and passing an innocent villager.
Firstly, open the map. The brighter sections of the map represent high ground, whereas black either shows flat level ground, or a pit-fall. You will see the massive scar of darkness down the centre of the map- this is the valley! You can see quite cleary the two ways of getting across- The first is halfway along the casm, and the second (safe) way is right at the very top of the map. (Please note that the stage is NOT completed by just crossing the valley- a generally difficult boss needs to be defeat on the other side!) Here are both ways of getting across the valley and finishing the stage: 1. Make your way to the far side of stage (North), making sure to avoid or stealth kill all the Assassin hunters in your way. Near the top of the map there is a bridge with a small, narrow fence by it's side. A good position to attempt the crossing is from the high cliff on the left (West edge), and jump down from between bamboo trees and hugging the fence to hide from the nearby villager. It will not take long to notice the buddah that is guarding the bridge, but once he turns his back quickly run out from behind the fence and slit his throat. The way to the crossing point is now open. There is a small incline/slope that juts out. From here you can double jump across to the other side of the valley (this is where the valley is at it's narrowest) or alternatively grapple-hook onto some bamboo, but either way- be careful and make sure you align your direction well. When you get across only a couple of awkward enemies await you, as you backtrack south along the top of the valley. The boss battle (Shinogi) will commence about halfway back down from this side of the canyon. (Shinogi is a worthy opponent and it is recommended that you bring some sort of 'fire-power' to help defeat him, as Tesshu is not the fastest of ninja, and you dont want to blow the whole stage after successfully crossing the valley) 2. This is the more risky of the crossing points and requires an almost suicidal sense of risktaking. This method is only recommended if you are an experienced Tenchu gamer or are very talented at jumping! You can see from the map that a dark patch of deep red runs out in the middle of the valley, which is cut off about halfway across the canyon. This is a sort of 'pier' that juts out from the opposite side and is totaly dwarfed by the size of the valley and the deadly depths below. You will have to keep looking at the map and aligning yourself with the jutting-out stone bridge until you are sure that you are facing the correct direction (the 'pier' is not visible with the naked eye! It is way too low to see, which makes this jump very difficult to judge). A sense of distance isnt needed here. Just double jump forwards and hope against hope that you land on the narrow bridge. If you make the landing proceed to the valley wall and grapple up, where you can just take a few steps to the left (south), and the boss battle against Shinogi will commence.
