This was on the FF7 AC thread, so I wanted to see where the votes will go here(if the ones in the FF thread werent obviously biased enough)

anyway, I didnt start the thread in the AC forum, just found it. but the ppl there were argueing and comparing their ability to fly which was odd cuz its supposed to act as if it was a fight, not a jumping contest.

That and they werent screaming fan-boyishness, which supprised me.

Sephiroth did die at the end of FF VII, but was resurrected when the powers of Mother combined with those Kadaj.

IMO, Vergil seemed to be much faster than Sephiroth, turning completely invisible when attacking, he also has an attack so fast that it bends space, creating an orb of destruction.

He is also a half-demon, Sephiroth is a super-engineered... thing.

But in an rpg, not in an action game. Thats a big difference there.

Lot easier to give somone a numerical hp value and other stuff than to make a truly challenging boss battle that requires alot of attention(specially in DMD mode).

Vergil:
Description: Half-demon son of sparda, Dante's twin. Summoned a tower to go to hell itself to gain more power. Was defeated and is now controlled by the king of hell.
-The Yamato
-Beowulf
-Force Edge(if he achieved the power by getting the other amulet, he would be indestructable)
-Devil Trigger
-Judgement Cut
-Rose back from the dead(but is still actaully living)
-can attack faster than the speed of light(which is why you see nothing when he slashes)
-Smart

Sephiroth:
Description: Crazy as hell psycho with a big sword. Wants to kill everything, got killed and now exists as some wierd parasitic memory-thing.
-Long as hell katana
-Powerful
-Supernova
-Flight
-His Momma(cant really think of much going for him right now)
-Never really saw much that porved him to be witty or smart

And I have played and beat the original FF7, and saw the movie, but I still think Vergil can take Seph. u r siding with a guy who worships some dead thing's head.

I have never seen Seph's attacks go faster than human sight. Or be so fast that the attack actually moves to another point entirely(judgement cut). Or like when Vergil drew his sword spun it once, sheathed it,and the creature behind him turned to ribbons.

in the movie, he was the combination of the head, Cloud's memories and fears of Seph, and Kadaj(I hav trouble enough remembering names, not sure if this is the right one or the right spelling)

ppl keep bringing up the super-nova, but as you all say "It destroys everything" this would include either the planet or Seph, and I doubt he can breath in space.

and why do you all say he is fast? I have never seen him move that fast.

second of all, the play mechanics are different in the games, meaning you would have to consider what lvl Vergil is with his speed and strength(which includes the many powers of the dark hunter style, as well as the fact that he; summons swords, can teleport(or move so fast as to seem to teleport) and have the speed and reflexes to not only dodge, but deflect bullets back at a target.

Ok, for the point of an arguement(not in the sense that your all probably thinking); Vergil has unlimited DT, and the Sparda, and the powers he got from Beowulf as well(assuming nobody had counted that in yet).

If this was a fight with the katanas, Yamato would cut Seph's blade in half, the Yamato can cut thru anything but the Rebellion, and Force edge after all. rendering the range vantage useless. And with Sparda, Vergil would have the range cuz of it turning into a halberd or a scyth. also, Vergil can conjure swords which follow enemies, or surround them and close in fast. If no Sparda, he probably has unlimited DT, and lets not forget when the grim-reaper demon was pleading for forgiveness, all he did was spin the sword once and then turned the thing into tissue.

Materia use, in the time they take to prepare the summons and magic, not that Seph really materia all that much after Jenova, which was a few mins in the movie(thinking bout bahamut, chose movie cuz it was real-time) Vergil could attack and kill Seph, or atleast stop the attack. This could also be said for super nova, cuz only an idiot would stand around doing nothing while his opponent is charging an attack that could seriously harm or kill him(no offense to the take turn system intended).

You say that Vergil can slice the Masamune? Really, I dont see that happening. In the DMC world the Yamato can slice through anything, but the Masamune doesnt exist in the DMC world so its not considered a factor. Just because it says it can cut through anything in the DMC world, doesnt necessarily make it true for the Masamune. The Masamune is slim yet can handle the awesome weight of Clouds Zweihander swords with ease. Also its a sword surounded by Japanese mythology, I dont beleive it can be broken.

Your own reasoning on the point Seph can use materia is destroyed by you saying "Yamato is only that powerful in the DMC world" Because of that reasoning, materia is only has that use in the FF world.


and with a huge sword like Cloud's, doesnt really need to be all too sharp to do damage. And all they really did was use the name so ppl would think it matters, and wasnt it split in two to make Kadaj's blade?

with the charging thing, everyone in the movie stood around going "omygod" while he was being summoned, Kadaj, who summoned it, was just standing there, I believe he was making a speech about jenova's powe while doing so tho.

1: Zero had said Supernova is an illusion. I didnt just bring it out of nowhere.

2: He had also said that he wanted proof that he is a fanboy, stating that a fanboy would basically say, "(insert name here) would pwn." Which he did earlier in the thread so I quoted him on it.

Yes, I do realize that after the fact thing I posted on my first post, I went off and ranted on a little. But in the end this is a "I like this more therefore I say it wins" contest, I dont think anyone can shift anyones opinion, cuz thats what it is, an opinion. either way, we cant realy compare the two characters because all we have to go off of one is a movie and an rpg(cant exactly compare speed in that). For the other, an action game.

oh, and nobody thinks what they say is fanboy-ish at the time. but no point in making unnecessary enemies.

and I've been the only one to rly defend Vergil without going, "He would pwn Seph cuz FF sucks," cuz I like FF(even tho I think the quality of their games has degraded in recent years)

Dont forget the 20 mins of explanation about every single minsor thing they put in Inuyasha, and the re-telling and re-stating of something every 2 mins.

2 mins later
"OMG that move did _(same thing)_"

and it goes on like that for a good 10-20 mins...

I would, probably why I made Vergil in the create-a-character in SC:3 also made Cloud, couldnt really pull of Dante as far as finding a wep style, and they didnt have long hair for guys so I couldnt make Sephiroth...

Their create-a-character system is very good. can make alot of ppl with it, some ppl did LOTR characters.
