Forum Rules

I'm generally a pretty easy-going guy, but there a few rules you have to abide by when posting in this forum. Depending on the severity of the rule-breaking, first time minor-offenders will probably get off with a simple warning; I don't want to ban people, but I've got no problem doing that to people who continue to break the rules. Just follow the simple rules outlined below and we should have no problem getting along.

[ Spamming ]

Most of you should be familiar with what constitutes as spamming and what doesn't, but just to clarify things, don't post any useless, off-topic, and generally unneeded posts for any reason, whether it's to raise your post count or to have a little fun. No one finds spam cute or funny, and no one is going to believe that your little brother hacked your account, so just leave all your spam at the door.

[ Flaming ]

Flaming is another no-no that most of you should be familiar with. Resist the urge to call people vulgar names and try to act like a mature adult, regardless of your age. Flaming and yelling at someone is not only a great way to get banned, it's also a spectacular way of losing everyone's respect, so think twice before hitting the Caps Lock button and going on a yelling spree.

As far as vulgar language goes, try to keep it out of conversation. Personally, I'm not bothered by it too much, but the MegaMan series targets an audience of all ages, so children will be present in the forum, and we don't want to do anything to ruin their visit to Neoseeker.

[ Memberating ]

As conceited and self-centered as this sounds, I'm the moderator here and I don't you need you running around telling others to shut up and threatening them for me. It's alright to steer new members in the right direction or help them out with forum features, but you just can't tell people what to do or threaten them with the banhammer. If you have a problem with someone in the forum who just won't seem to stop breaking the rules, feel free to send me PM about the issue if I'm not aware of it. Don't try to take it into your hands, because no one likes a memberator and you'll soon find yourself in the same position as the troublemaker.

[ Advertising ]

Do not advertise for other websites- be they MegaMan-related or not- through your posts on the forum. Advertisements are limited to your signature, custom title, profile, or anything else you can reach through the profile editor. Your profile editor does not include your individual posts, so please refrain from advertising there. You are also restricted from advertising through NeoPM to unsolicited Neoseekers who you don't know.

[ Reporting Posts ]

Simply put, the report function is not a toy. If someone creates a spam thread that manages to go ten pages without moderator attention, you do not need to report every single post in that thread, and you will not win an award for doing so (contrary to popular belief). Report the first post that needs attention and I'll be sure to check the whole thread out.

Now, it's acceptable to report every single post if the posts need to be taken out of view for questionable content (eg. containing pornographic content, vulgar language, advertisements). Use your best judgement when deciding whether or not to take a post out of view.

It's also a very unwise idea to report people's posts without reason. You can not report someone's post simply because you disagree with them or decide to do it out of spite. If you report their posts for no reason, it's you that's susceptible to punishment, not them.

[ Flooding ]

Do not flood the forum with an abundance of one-liner posts. There's nothing wrong with making ten posts in a ten-minute period as long as you put some thought and meaning into your posts. Do not go around making one-line comments about a subject in an attempt to raise your post count and get noticed in the forum.

[ Spoilers ]

If you're creating a thread that involves spoilers for the game, there are a few things you need to do. First and foremost, do not make the title something that will give the spoiler away, and be sure to include the word "Spoilers" somewhere in the title.

Even after you've done that, go ahead and put the word spoilers at the top of your post, and make it noticeable. Size 3, red, bold font really stands out, so you might want to do something like that. After doing that, it's still not a bad idea to put the actual spoiler inside of a quote box (using the tags [q] and [/q]) and changing the text color to white, making it hard to read unless someone highlights it. I will not have you ruining the game for others.

[ Other ]

Do not discuss ROMs. End of story.

Do not create duplicate threads for the same subject. Scan the thread index (as soon as it's put up) before making a new thread.

Do not post pornographic content (or any questionable content for that matter).

Do not be a forum troll.

Do not try to instigate or fuel flame wars or spamming.

Do not bother members through NeoPM. Neoseeker forum-wide rules still apply there, so even though it's out of sight from the forums, you can still be punished for your actions through private messaging.

When posting in this forum, you not only have to abide by these rules, but also Neoseeker's Forumwide Rules.

[ Contact ]

All issues in the forum should be addressed to me. If, for any reason, you need to contact me and can not, you may contact the section moderator Avalith, provided the issue needs urgent attention. I log on to Neoseeker quite frequently throughout the day, so I should be able to address most issues within a very reasonable time frame.
