Hitomi for VJ

but the only characters i use are usually just ninjas, but yeah to me Lei Fang is just the weak character. she may have good combo's and grabs but i hate her.

as for Hitomi she is ok i guess i just never use her.

my favorite characters would be Hayate and Ayane still.

Anyhow, Lei Fang has a lot of very effective tools, mostly defensive. I know as Hitomi, her mid parry gives me headaches. She also has a three part grab, which can do a ton of damage if you guess wrong in your countering.

Hitomi, on the other hand, does have the punch parry. Hitomi is probably a bit quicker and has better mix-ups/offensive options than Lei Fang, but her defensive game may not be quite as good (In this situation, I'd say the mid parry against Hitomi is more devastating than Hitomi's punch parry is against Lei Fang).

So, without going into detail, I'd say {This is only my opinion}:

Hitomi has better mix-ups/options
Lei Fang has better parry (in this situation)
Lei Fang has better grabs
Hitomi has a better catch grab
Lei Fang is better at crushing her opponents attacks
Hitomi is a better poker
Lei Fang has better juggles
Hitomi has a better wall/starting game

I think it's a pretty balanced match up. I'd say that a "good" Hitomi wins this match, but you can sit there and make arguments for either side.

That's me trying to be unbiased anyway.

I agree with everything except to the part that Hitomi had a better catch grab.

Lei Fangs 66P+F is so much better than qcF(P+F).
Lei Fang's CG can punish people doing a high get up kick, can do a little bit of spacing off the low get up kick and get it in, and mid kick can be blocked right into another one.
Lei Fang I believe is faster, but I have to check in on that.

Hitomi's catch grab is one of the top 5 catch grabs in the game in terms of damage. The only perk about Lei Fang's is that it's easier to input, which really doesn't matter.

Hitomi can also punish wake ups - it's not really a big deal. As for speed, I'm pretty sure Hitomi is faster while Lei Fang is a better crusher.

Punishing Wake-ps against the wall..

I'm not talking about inputs, but I'm talking about it's usefulness.
ALL Lei-Fang players spam the 66P if they are standing up, get up kick or not.

Hitomi has a better wall game than Lei Fang, so I'm not really sure why you would bring that up as a pro for Lei Fang.

Yes, her catch grab is good against a wall for punishing wake up kicks. For pure damage though, Hitomi's is still better. Also, remember that Hitomi can punish wall wake ups too with a number of different options.

I certainly have seen Lei Fang players use that trick, but to say it's "spammed" could be a bit of an exaggeration. It's one neat option you have of many and can be countered relatively easily. It's also just as easy for Hitomi to do a catch grab off of a missed wake up kick. Also, you need to remember that Hitomi's wall grab hurts much more than Lei Fang, so she really has two grab options while Lei only has one {granted it is rare I'd use a catch-grab when my opponent is at the wall, just because Hitomi has many, many more effective tools, especially for punishing whiffed wake up kicks}.

I don't really consider Lei Fang's catch grab to really be that devastating. I've seen Lei Fang players use much more effective options than that one, in terms of maintaining her wall game and damage/pressure. When you factor in all the other wall set ups, it just seems to be another useful option for Lei Fang. Hitomi has a catch grab that is almost as good in that situation {and excels everywhere else} and many more wall set ups that that are better. So no, I don't think Lei Fang's catch grab, even against the wall, is enough to say that it's better than Hitomi's.

Is Lei Fang's catch gab useful? Certainly. Is it more useful than Hitomi's? Probably not.
