Best way to train and make cash early on?

Righto, just started playing and I'm only at level 2.

Any hints on where I should level myself up, and where I could get a good amount of cash, would be appreciated.

Join the arena for cash, or go to Rockmilk Cave or Fort Homestead both of those are very good. I wouldn't reccomend training to level up if it's your first play through, let your major skills level as you play through.

re: Best way to train and make cash early on?

The best way to earn money is to take loot from dungeons and sell it. By "loot," I primarily mean taking enemies' armor and occassionally weapons (heavier weapons have low weight:value ratios). On lower levels, all you'll find is fur, leather, and iron, and those aren't worth much. But at low levels, you shouldn't spend too much. Light armor gives much more payout for its weight, so I suggest raiding Bandit lairs. Some that I know off the top of my head are Vilverin, Sercen, and Sinkhole Cave. Those are all right outside the Imperial City.

PS: I think there is another Bandit lair called Dzonot Cave not far south (or southeast?) of the Imperial City.

Yeah I recommend you go through the Arena first, you'll get about 5000 gold overall for completing it and should train up some of your combat skills in the process.

Yeah i agree tbh. Arena is so good for starting out. Its first place i went and it gives you great head start with levelling up and money. And also if your finding it difficult to complete you can always do the difficulty trick

Honestly, Dom, Leveling up fast is generally a bad thing. If you level up too fast, enemies will have much stronger armor and weapons than you do, and the game will be harder. Don't be afraid to level up, but keep in mind that it's generally a good idea to spend some time looting places like Rockmilk Cave so you have the best equipment you can get. As for fast money, the best way is to do the quest 'The Collector'. It's basically 12 Dungeon Crawls in a row, but you're guaranteed to make at least 10,000 gold; and that's assuming you don't pick anything up in the 10 Ayleid Ruins except the statues. Loot the places and you'll get a decent chunk of extra change on top of it.

is that the quest for ummbacano? if not were do you start it?

if you find any ayeild statues DON'T sell them to stores, sell them to ummacano then steal them back and sell to theives guild.

also keep the best equipment you can find, don't sell it because it's worth alot.

re: Best way to train and make cash early on?

All I know is killing a bunch of wolves gets you wolf pelts. And it also helps you increase mercantile cause you get to go and sell them. At first they aren't worth too much but as your mercantile goes up. You can haggle the buyer to buy it at higher percent values. Like 50% and so on.

Combat, just run around and fight animals. lol. Maybe pick on a guard now and again. Though that can be tough. :S

There's nothing wrong with levelling fast as long as you get the correct attribute bonuses every level, which will keep you strong. You can loot dungeons while training too, so you can always stay on top of the armor and weapons.

re: Best way to train and make cash early on?

Most of what you've heard so far involves some degree of serious comittment. If you're just looking for a quick way to make some quick cash I have one (well, two) words for you - Ayeleid Ruins. They're the white stone ones, fairly common throughout the game. All of these ruins are filled with Welkynd stones, which have a weight of 1 and a value of 50. You can generally get at least 20 per dungeon, and that's about 800 gold depending on your mercantile skill. You'll also ocassionally find Varla stones, which also weigh 1 and have a value of 1000.

Now both of those items do have practical uses as well, so some would advise you against selling them. But in the very early game it's well worth it, and there's tons out there so you can always find more later if you need them.

re: Best way to train and make cash early on?

the best way to make money early on is to go do the arena. there's no real increased benefits for doing it later as opposed to earlier, so do it first. use your profits to buy the house in the imperial waterfront district, and buy all the storage for it.

then, loot dungeons. loot them for all they're worth. if it takes 20 trips, so be it. bring it all back home, or straight to the store, and sell sell sell. train while sacking dungeons.

if you're really serious about training, and you need to train blade/blunt/block/armorer, download the fighters stronghold, and buy the trainer in the basement.
