re: Host Advantage |

Host advantage is huge, I didn't always host, it just never occurred to me to do it, but once I started, I find it difficult to play a match that I'm not hosting. I've lost nearly all my skill when I'm not hosting, because always playing host means you can play like shit and still own everyone, so really, don't host unless you plan to host every match you're ever going to play. btw, turning off extreme gore is for little girls, so what if you get some more blood on your screen, it evens up the host advantage in shotgun battles, but not having the head popping animation? That's just plain ridiculous. -------------------

Yeah, the Host gets a significant advantage due to no lag. I almost always do better as host, and it gives me incentive to use that piece of shit Shotgun since it gibbs enemies from further distances and in half of the time as when I'm not host. However, since I like to weapon slide the Boomshot on some maps (Mansion, Gridlock etc.), usually let somebody else host. I still do well Off-host, though. ------------------- ![]() Iz Stoik zI/Iz Nova zI/Iz Hyper zI/Iz Dr Mario zI ^^^ Awesomeness in a can.

I've never once hosted a match. I usually finish top (or 2nd) in kills/points in a match, rarely do I finish any lower. But, whenever I come up against a host, I get *bleep*ing raped. Most of the time they don't even show signs of skill, they just run in and fire the shit out of their gun while I hopelessly try to dodge it. I've been shot from behind cover, behind walls, while out of shotgun range, even when the host isn't even aiming at me. Most of the time I try to do a 1 on 1 with a host I end up technically winning (3 direct shots with a active'd shotgun from 5ft away plus a wack to the head), but I still end up getting raped. ------------------- ![]() Now known as "Xodus"

quote Incidniai dont like you either, learn to play. host is not stronger. in gears, the host xbox is the server, this means he is faster because his connection doesnt travel, he seems stronger because he is more accurate, for he has 0 lag. where he aims, it hits, thus causeing the same amount of damage a non-host would if the same amount of shot hits in that spot. if you cant beat the host, leave, that simple. Well i think they could fix the host advantage by giving the host artificial lag (can't come up with another name)

I noticed two posts that negatively comment on weapon sliding. One even insinuated that weapon sliding meant that the person didn't know how to play. quoteWhat? No mention of a weapon slide in there at all? Yeah, it's allowed in MLG tourneys. Weapon slides are fair game. Focusing on host advantage; it just doesn't have any lag, and as pointed out earlier, its not that the shotgun is more powerful, its just that more of the shot hits. I think the most overpowered host weapon is the torque bow. Zero lag? If you have any aiming skills at all, you can't really lose unless your double or triple teamed.

quote P P H JayBo 13 Oh I can play very well thanks, I would probably own your noobish ass. And as I would of explained if I gave a shit about either of your opinions, was: that I only really ever weapon slide if no body is around for the weapon, so I may get to another point a fraction quicker. If I were to be under fire, then I wouldn't, but then again I probably wouldn't go for the weapon either. I have been known to weapon slide a few times when at risk of a headshot, but that's it. Because that annoys the person and I am pretty sporting I don't do it in peoples faces. This message was edited by Incidnia on Jun 10 2007.

What's with all of the weapon slide haters? I have some advice for you...LEARN TO ADAPT. If you can't shoot down the person by yourself while they're weapon sliding, get a teammate to help you lancer him down. ------------------- ![]() Iz Stoik zI/Iz Nova zI/Iz Hyper zI/Iz Dr Mario zI ^^^ Awesomeness in a can.

You can always just run away and active lancer the host at a distance, and hopefully get the down. These days, not everyone likes to play host.
