Depends, if the guest will be playing with you reliably (ie, can be there all the time), then I don't see why not.

If there's a tie, you play on Magical's connection, which is bad for everyone

Couldn't you always just randomize the host? Make them be on a random team the first time (don't put them on a team and just start the game, assigning them to a random team), and then just alternate. That's the closest thing to being fair that's going to happen. Like DragonMaster_Dyne pointed out, if you do it by who wins the most rounds one team could simply play one or two maps over and over again and win that way. That shows no versatility in their skill. I mean, even look at the NFL. When it comes down to sudden death overtime, who gets the ball first (and has the first chance to score and win) is decided by a coin toss. It's the only fair way.

Assuming 0Zero0 and DragoniteBallZ don't make a team and enter (really have no idea if we will or not), I wouldn't be opposed to being a host, as I do have a fast connection. But I'll get back to you on that.

The problem with host isn't which team he'll be on, but where he's located in matches containing people from two separate countries.

If it were to follow my idea, each team would not only pick the host, but would pick the map, twice. Going by # of rounds won makes the competition more competitive and less likely to end in tie. If everyone is opposed to that idea, though, we could follow that formula but go by matches won and if it ends in a tie, simply have the host toss a coin or whatever.

Ooh, I understand now. I was definitely in the wrong state of mind when I was reading what was going on. As much of an issue as it is, if the host has a good, quality connection, there shouldn't be lag for anybody, no matter how far away they are. I know I've hosted games with Haranabi plenty of times without him lagging. If anything, I think screening the potential hosts and finding good ones to host games that take place with people from different continents should help solve that problem.

I think we've already found an American host in Deadman Rules (Dan 85). But feel free to get on Gears and we'll get some brits together to test your connection.
