Well a Shotgun up close dosent stop one easily, you need to use a seemingly good amount of lancer ammo so that one of the bullets that isnt a "dud" hit him, making him stunned. Then you can chainsaw him instead.

i once shot a guy running at me with a chainsaw 3 times point blank with a shotgun, saw blood fly from his body yet he was still able to get me and it never lowered... the registration sucks for this game sometimes.

Or he was glitching/modding, which I find easier to believe.

And there high pitched voice reply is "I'm going for the Chainsaw Achevement". How about you get the Puberty Achevement!

If you constantly get beat by somebody using the chainsaw. Maybe your the one who has no skill. I mean seriously, how hard is it to get away from someone coming at you with a *bleep*ing chainsaw?

And actives on the sniper, your probably one of them spazzes who runs in a straight line, then whinges when they get downed.

I dont understand why people get so upset about people waiting around a corner to chainsaw. Mabye you should check before you go running in blindly. What i hate is when someone runs around the same corner three or four times, get chainsawed and complain about it, I would think they learned their lesson the first time. Ill admit i do this but then why should i quit when it works so well. Im not saying this is all i do, i shotgun, boomshot, etc.

When it's one on one, yes it's annoying, but even more so when you're actually battling 3 other players and some asshat comes up behind you with the chainsaw revved. Number one, he's stealing the kill that those 3 other players could have gotten or have worked hard on downing you, and number two, it takes no skill whatsoever to hide and just run around solely with the chainsaw.

Well, for one, people do it because cliffy wanted a boomshot, active, torque, blindfire, or a chainsaw in the game. That's what partially made it unique. If someone chainsaws, personally it's their problem, either way, their going to get chainsawed, or they're going to get headshot..the fuss is never going to end. Shit, glitching and teabagging is another issue though..

Although, chainsawing does have its funny moments. Like when I ran out of shotgun bullets and had to resort to using my lancer. Shooting him with the lancer at close range was useless, so ran in circles, rolled, revved the chainsaw, and butchered him, and we all laughed.

Look, if the other player gets close enough with a revved chainsaw, he gets the kill. He earned it. I keep reading complaints about when a "noob" runs up behind you and chainsaws you. If he's behind you, who's *bleep*ing fault is that?

The idea behind Gears of War was a tactical, but fast paced shooter. Flanking is the oldest tactic in the book, other than overwhelming force. Besides, if he was behind you with a chainsaw, and you didn't notice, I don't think it'd be much harder for him to get out a shotgun and shoot you point blank. Similarly, how did he get behind you with no skill? He may have just run forward, that doesn't take anyskill, but it takes less skill to see him coming. There are four of you (usually), act like it and don't all face the same direction.

Also, there are numerous posts with something along the lines of, "it takes no skill whatever to hide and run around with a chainsaw," or something like that. Why are people crucifying players who combine cover with a one-hit kill, close quarters weapon? Maybe you shouldn't just blindly run around corners in enemy territory.

Who's fault do you think it is that they're back there? You didn't watch what was going on, you pay the price.

Personally, I love the chainsaw. It's an awesome weapon, a reward for getting up-close and personal with your enemy. And the bloody camera makes it all the better.


The Lancer is pretty much the staple of Gears. Why the Hell wouldn't you use it? It's a medium to long range weapon. It lays down suppressive fire the best out of all the weapons.

Does anyone know what suppressive fire means?

Fire that's aimed at or in the direction of enemy forces with the goal to reduce the ability to defend themselves or return fire, by forcing the enemy to remain under cover.

Well, it doesn't exactly force you to remain under cover, but it's a damned good idea. If you get caught out in the open with no cover around, as stated before, who's *bleep*ing fault is that? The Lancer was underpowered before the update, it's finally at the level I wanted it to be originally.

Addressing the Boomshot complaints, it's the bazooka of Gears. Every FPS has a giant gun capable of dealing massive area damage. The Boomshot is Gears' version of the BFG. Leave it alone, it's fine as it is. It's not cheap or n00bish in anyway. It's a weapon that's supposed to turn the tide of battle, you're supposed to protect it. It's a power weapon; deal with it.

Now onto the Longshot; it's another power weapon. On certain maps, there are two of them, one one both sides of a symmetrical map. This is to create balance, both sides get a sniper. Both sides have access to the "cheapness" of the active reload. On other maps, it's like the Boomshot, something you're supposed to guard or fight over. The only map that I can think of that's an exception is Escalation. The two snipers were a way of giving the team that starts at the bottom of the hill a little help in taking the high ground.

There's actually nothing cheap about the weapon. If you're complaining about getting downed by actives every time, here's an idea, don't get shot. Treat it like a Torque Bow or Boomshot, one hit equals death. Stay out of the way, it's actually really simple.

Shit talking is annoying though.

I do agree with CJag as what is said applies to every FPS. I dont agree with them when they say that spawn-killing isn't a noobish thing to do however.
