Ok, I never really played Gears much but recently I have picked it up again and I need help.

I'm at the part where you lure a Beserker to the courtyard and have to kill it with the Hammer. (End of Act 1 I think) So I lured the Beserker out easily but I don't have the Hammer; I have some normal gun. It looks like there are two Hammer near the entrance of the courtyard but I can't pick either up. There is like a circle with a slash through it instead of the usual x to pick it up? Is there some trick to it or is it a glitch and I have to start the level over?

You have to have a weapon out that the hammer would take the place of, if you are holding your grenades or a pistol it won't let you pick up a hammer. Take out one of the two big guns you have and it should let you pick it up, replacing whatever gun you have out.

Well I don't have a pistol or grenades. I have some gun which I think is considered a "big gun" It isn't the default one with the chainsaw though. And how do you switch guns?

Yeah well you know how on the D-pad up is grenades, down pistol, then left or right are two spots for all the guns like shotgun, sniper, lancer, etc. You need to have one of those guns equipped in order to swap it for a hammer. So basically, if you have both the left and right slots filled up, equip the gun you want to get rid of then try to pick up the hammer and it will drop the gun you were holding and the hammer will be in that slot.

Edit: Worked. I actually already had a Hammer on me; I just didn't know how to switch weapons.
