I think this game is very under-rated |
|
A lot of people were "dissing" the demo months ago, but I never understood why, I always thought it was pretty fun. Well I finally got my mits on the full game a couple days ago, and it's far better than I thought! The destruction is amazing, I am shocked to find reviewers didn't comment as much as they should have on the brillaint physics engine in the game. I mean, pretty much EVERYTHING is blow-up-able, and all objects correspond with the correct physical state. It's great! I watched some other guy's car blow up and saw his ragdoll driver flying into a wall, smashing the debris and windows, while his stray-dog car flew into a massive advertisment board, and I literally slowed down to watch this huge wooden board break into a gazillion pieces and crash down onto the road and opress the helpess drivers below. Amazing!
Sure, the graphics do take a bit of a bump because of this collated massacre, but remember Full Auto is still very much a first-gen 360 title. I think the graphics are still great though. On inspection of a replay, in its carnage I noticed the driver that was flaying around on cars actually had a driver's leather texture on his suit. That's pretty cool, especially in comparison to last-gen games of this nature, like FlatOut, where the driver had a blurry coat texture, and his jeans were basically just painted blue. Of course, that is perfectly acceptable for a game on PS2 and Xbox, but Full Auto is certainly under-appreciated when it comes to these little inuous qualities that make the game so much fun.

I was tempted by this a bit but when you look at games like Oblivion, this just doesn't seem deep enough to warrant the full price. If I see it cheap somewhere, I probably will buy it, or at least add it to my ever-growing rental list.

I agree with you crispy, Full Auto is a very good game which has hours upon hours of lifespan. Just a shame the sequel is a PS3 exclusive.

This game is one of the best racing games that the X-Box 360 has to offer right now. It came out with the X-Box 360 and still beats most of the games out there hands down!
Well done Sega! I am also really bothered by the fact that full auto 2 is a PS3 exclusive! Why? Are they going to get Full Auto 1 as well?

I picked this up brand new for 10 pounds from my shop, and I have to agree with that this game is really under-rated. I've only finished the tutorial levels so far, but I had so much fun racing and destroying my way through the courses.
