quote Army_Man92Yeah, that's basically it. They used all the weapons for suppressing... even the rifles. An automatic isn't a gun for "close quarters fighting" or whatever that guy said though... it didn't really matter much, the automatics were used like rifles. | |

quote stetI'm pretty sure you don't attach it to your weapon, if you are a machine gunner in WWII then you would have an assistant feeding you the rounds and the assistant would carry around the ammo while you carry around the gun. And BlueFire, the automatics were used to supress the enemy, although that wasn't their main job. They just happen to have a gun which can supress them, and then the person might take it upon himself to give supressing fire. Although any gun can give supressing fire, even a sniper. In fact they were used a lot in WWII by the Germans and Russians. It's just that the machine gunners were more effective because they had a better rate of fire and amount of ammunition. I mean, wouldn't you be afraid (Or be afraid more) from tons of bullets hitting near you or one or two bullets coming at you?
