Heres a couple of questions

Do you think Dead Rising can be manipulating in a violent way? I mean im 14, i can tell the difference between fiction, and reality. But im talking about the kids 12 and up. I am in no way effected, but i can see other people being effected cause they had a rough childhood, or bad parents, ex... The big question here is.. Should parents be afraid of their children that have been well raised get manipulated by violent video games?


And one more question

First and foremost on this topic: If the desire, even at a subconsious level, is there in the first place. Its the same thing that came up with lyrics in songs. Plain and simple, those that already have a "screw loose", if they see anything it could trigger them to do something bad. Hell 9 times out of 10 the video games, music, or movies are the ones that people blame cause it is the easiest thing to do. Its the parents not wanting to fees up that they failed as parents. (not in the fact that they let thier child do these things but that they didnt see that their child was already on their way to doing something wrong but they did nothing to stop it.) Its jsut everyone not wanting to fess up to their own downfalls. Be it physical, mental, or anything else.


And the socer ball is kicked soo hard by the badass thaty you are palying as that i can kill. (truthfully i wondered that myself, i just have fun )

i read somewhere that like the average kid see's 1500+ deaths on TV by the time they turn 15. i think thats crazy. (if someone could get the real number that would be cool, i couldnt find it)

i dont think tv or videogames have anything to do with kids being messed up.

I do know one kid that was affected by Manhunt. He was intensely scared of that game. I think he is over with blood and gore now though. Ive never been affected by a video game. Probably because I started watching rated R movies when I was like 5 years old.

There is a little difference between playing a game and wanting to go out and perform the acts you just saw, and palying a game and being disturbed by the amount of voilence/gore you saw. I give it to you i get into my games alot and i can be startled very easily. (johnnyblack can attest) (and by startled i mean like someone sneaking up behind you and scaring you not the gore bs hell give me more gore im happy)

people just like to blame other things these days, im not saying you cant get scared by a game im just saying that there is no way a game made some kid kill another one.

I didnt play Manhunt too much but i had fun watching my bro play many times we would loao with some of the either things that were said or the death scenes. Hell once he followed a guy for at least 2-3 min locked on and ready to kill him if he decided to turn around. The most fun was attaching the microphone and taunting the idiots then kill them once their back was turned. "Hola Paco" lol.

Who is supposedly Jack Thompson?

First and foremost: It's rated M, only someone 17 or older is supposed be able to buy the game. Which is the point isn't it? Nobody cares about ratings systems anymore, or teaching children the difference between fantasy and reality for that matter. I give it to you, I watched R rated flicks and played some pretty violent video games when I was little, but my parents were good about teaching me the difference and the certain outcome of performing violence. The question shouldn't be about how well children can handle violence in media, it should be whether parents are doing their jobs.

True. Hell the simple fact that they made and are making games into movies is pretty much all the evidence you need that videogames arent going anywhere. (Doom was atleast a decent movie and Hitman looks like it could do the game some justice but we will have to wait and see.)
