Is it even possible to kill them? If so how do you?

i used a smg to take out the gunner so they wouldn't shoot me.
then i ran around and waited for them to hit a tree so i could take the gun off and shoot the other two. if you drive the jeep you get the carjacker achievement.

Alternate method.

If you grab a Katana or just the Sledge Hammer, wait till they crash into a tree or a wall and a well and truly stuck for a minute, go nuts on both the driver and the replacement driver then move on to the gunner, should take about 3 swings for each convict.

If you are low level. Grab a Sniper and Shotgun from the gun shop. Also a Katana from the shop near the grocery store. Stay on the steps on the North Plaza and snipe at them until you knock there health down a bit. Then be patient and wait for them to crash. Use ether the shotgun or katana when there stuck on the object.

Probably the easiest way I found to defeat the convicts is to go to the area (can't remember which plaza it is close to.. Paradise I think?) where you find all the picnic tables under the little shelter. If you led them there and get them to run into it, you can angle yourself to where the gunner can't shoot you, but you will be able to shoot him. You can take out the other two the same way.

I had trouble one i first played the game but i can kill them really easily now.

The way i kill them should help u cos it has neva failed for me:

- Go to the car park near the leisure park
- get in the Red Sports car and enter the underground car park
- Take the 1st left and just keep goin and you should be at the area with a Truck u can drive.
- Get in and drive out of the underground car park
- Now go back to the leisure park and ram ur truck inhto the convicts
- they should now all be dead if not all the truck will be busted so they won't be able to move.

Youcan't get the carjacker achievment like that though.
I just use a sniper from a distance ()on the hut roof) and wait for them to hit a tree somewere in the distance, take out the gunner then either take out the other 2 of you can get alot closer without the gunner.

Ramming it leaves their car unusable.

At the start of the game, one of the survivors is carrying a shotgun, when thezombies are let in he gets eaten (duh)and you can take his shotgun. keep it in your inventory, and when the convicts arrive shoot the gunner first, then the side passenger, then the driver.

No. They don't. You're a idoit. They only come back if your trash the jeep and leave. Kill them properly, and they don't come back.

They respawn each night regardless of what you do, you can never fully get rid of them

Then you're lucky, because they're a menace to get past every night.
