shogun.icd error |
|
I can not open the program because of an error. I get:
SHOGUN caused an invalid page fault in module SHOGUN.ICD at 016f:00596cd1. How can I fix this problem. I am using an ATI readon 8500 video card and direct x 8.1. I have an AMD xp 1700 processor and 128mb ram. I have tried loading other alternate drivers into my system as well as disabling direct draw. What am I missing that I can't get this to work? Shep

YEAH! I have the same problem I have a Radeon 7500 but everything else is OK, I think it might not work with Radeon graphics cards or something like that.

It must be to do with the Radeon graphics card. I have a Radeon 8500 128mb ddr card with Catalyst 3.4 drivers and I get the same error. I've e-mailed EA support, so hopefully they will get back to me some time this century, and I'll let y'all know. Oh and by the way what the hell was that guy who said he knew what the problem was talking about??

I suffer from the same problem, There is something about this on the shogun:totalwar website. Go to www.totalwar.com
click shogun, support and check out known issues. However, I have not managed to fix this problem with alternative drivers. Radeon 7500 AMD athlon 900mhz 256mb ram

Hi !
Yes, I found the solution. This error apparently apperas only with ATI radeon cards. The problem is related to ATI radeon driver, which installs 2 graphic devices, primary and secondary. Shogun only wants one and does not know what to do with second one For Win 98 go to My computer/Device Manager/Graphic Cards and either delete or disable one graphic device. (for example I have "Sapphire Radeon 9000 Atlantis Pro" and "Sapphire Radeon 9000 Atlantis Pro - secondary". And I have "Sapphire Radeon 9000 Atlantis Pro - secondary" disabled. I hope that will help someone

oki guys. i found this:
How is the error message "Invalid page fault in Shogun.icd" fixed? This error is common on some newer laptops. It is a trouble initializing the display. Laptops have display setups that include multiple display adapters that allow functionality such as docking and the use of external monitors. These unique configuration can often confuse Shogun when starting up. To fix this, click on Start and choose Run. Type in DXDIAG and hit Ok to open up the DirectX Diagnostic Tool. Go to the Display section and then DISABLE DirectDraw Acceleration. Now minimize this window and start up Shogun: Total War. Once you get to the game menu, hold down the ALT key, then tap the TAB to temporarily return back to your desktop. Now go back into DirectX Diagnostic Tools and ENABLE DirectDraw Acceleration. Exit out of the DXDIAG program and click on Shogun on your taskbar to play the game. i do this and battlefield looked like sh....

Same problem, I have a ATI 3D Rage Pro AGP 2X. Ancient Technology, I know. My question is will I have to upgrade this to play this game? I meet all the other requirements.
